Customer Reviews
Camping Gäsi is a beautiful campsite right on Lake Walen. Access to the lake is very close, making it perfect for a refreshing swim. Dogs are allowed and the whole organisation of the campsite is very straightforward. Very nice footpaths in every direction! Campers who rely on electricity should reserve a spot early enough or, if solar power is available, ask for a suitable spot. Otherwise, highly recommended. But you should protect yourself well from mosquitoes!
Area for tents is not great, in the woods - wet and muddy. Near by highway too. Maybe its different story if You come with a camper. Reception was kind enough to offer us some other campings in the area. Not worth the money
Being on a bicycle tour and running late, we called ahead for reception opening time. The receptionist was friendly and told us not to worry but to call her as soon as we got there. We arrived one hour after closing in pouring rain. She came very fast and waited with us under the office roof until the rain passed, then showed us our lot. Thank you for your kindness. The campsite was on the beach with a great view. One can slightly hear the highway, the trains and the gravel processing plant, but we slept well. Breakfast at the camp restaurant was good too.
I liked the place itself.. it does have a somehow romantic charm to it, being in the forest, with many cooking/fire spots around. That said, the lady at the reception should learn some manners. Twice, she yelled at us for stopping our car for just a second near the reception. (We wanted to check in and then check out.) If other people are driving so fast on the grounds (which was the argument), there are many other ways to address the situation - instead of shouting at your unaware guests? This really made us feel not welcome.
Location of the camp was okay, new showers better than most. However the reception lady as so many are mentioning here is ridiculously horrible. Super rude, super bossy, super annoying. Just a horrible human, not really what one expect in Switzerland. Mosquitos I haven't seen so many but still never again. The service on reception as well as restaurant is one of the worst I have ever seen.
