According to visitor reviews, Canyon Campground is a nice location for horse camping, with level campsites that are not situated too closely together. While there are corrals near the trailhead, some campers prefer to use their own. Water for horses can be sourced from the river, but it's important to note that there is no potable water available at the campground. Most campsites are back-in sites, with a couple of pull-through options. Each site is equipped with tables, stove/BBQ platforms, and a fire pit. A vault restroom is also available for campers.

Canyon Campground is also recognized as the transfer campground that contains the trailhead leading to Skillern Hot Springs, making it a worthwhile stay for those interested in visiting the hot springs. However, access to the campground from Featherville was reportedly not possible during a recent summer due to a mudslide along the road, making the detour through Fairfield cumbersome. Visitors hope for improved access in the future.

Canyon Campground invites you to enjoy its level sites, horse camping amenities, and access to great trails, including the popular route to Skillern Hot Springs. Remember to bring your own drinking water and be aware of potential access limitations from certain directions. Consider Canyon Campground for your next camping adventure near Fairfield, Idaho.

We spent several days horse camping at Canyon Creek. Nice level sites, not too close to each other. There are corrals near the trailhead but we used our own corrals. Used water from river for horses, no potable water. Most sites at back in with a couple pull thru. Sites have tables, stove/bbq platforms & fire pit. Vault restroom. Great trails.

Transfer campground that contains the trailhead leading to Skillern Hot Springs. Worth the stay just to get to the hot springs. It wasn’t possible to get here from Featherville this summer due to a mud slide along the road, and turning around to go through Fairfield was cumbersome. Hope to get back next summer.
