Promotional Information:
Canyon Campground in Yellowstone National Park offers a convenient location for exploring the park. Featuring wooded sites and included showers, it's ideal for hikers and adventurers. Be aware of higher elevation and seasonal closures. Convenient location in the park. Remember the elevation at this campground is higher so it will be colder in the fall than other places in the park. Very wooded so the sun doesn't always reach your site. When we checked in we weren't told that our checkout day was the last day of the campground being open for the year, so to our surprise, we weren't able to take showers that morning. I'm sure I read this when I booked, but that was months ago. Wish they'd have told us at check-in. Would prefer the last day to have services open until at least the afternoon. We had a wonderful stay at Canyon Village Campground. Perfect place from which to experience Yellowstone. Nice spacious campingspots in the forest. The included 2 daily showers were also very nice after an intense day of hiking and adventure in this impressive National Park.

The best thing about Canyon is the central location in the park. The shower and laundry facilities are nice. However, if you’re a tent camper like my husband and I this campground is less than desirable. The fact that you cannot pick your site when booking absolutely stinks. Most sites have zero privacy. It was as if our neighbor was laying in our tent with us. If you want to listen to generators running, dogs barking, kids screaming/crying then this is the place for you! People would cut through our site to get to the bathroom. Whoever designed the bathrooms picked very awkwardly sized stalls, so it forces you to have to either straddle the toilet or wedge between the toilet and wall in order to get the door open. Gross. Highly doubt we’ll camp here again.
Great campground. Lots of bathrooms with flush toilets. Showers and laundry services in the main building. Some spots are close to one another, but that's kind of expected at this large campgound. Across the street they have groceries, food spots, and much more. Great, central location to stay!!
Canyon Campground is a great, centrally located area in YNP. Each section of the park is about 40mins-1hr away from here. Pretty fancy facilities if you’re used to more primitive camping. Showers and laundry services are available at the check in building. I recommend going for showers around 4 if you can. They’re closed for cleaning from 2-3p, so they were really clean and not crowded at that time. Washer and dryer (3$ each in quarters) did a good job, we did a big load while we showered and got supplies from the gas station nearby. Took about 1h-ish to complete, big tables for folding clothes also available. Flush toilet facilities in the campground were clean and well-lit with adjacent room for washing your camp dishes. Potable water available in front of the bathrooms. If your campsite is close to the bathrooms, that could definitely be annoying with heavy foot traffic and bright lights. The campground itself was nice, lots of tall trees everywhere. No real views other than trees, though. Many of the sites aren’t very level either. We did have some loud neighbors, but most shut down by quiet hours (10pm). An RV neighbor had their generator still running by 8:30 one night, and a campground employee did come around to tell them to turn it off. We stayed for 5 nights, had a great time and did lots of exploring.
