Hidden gem for a great getaway in Central Texas. Recently did a camping trip there in my RV and ended up booking an extra day while there because I liked it so much. Tons of trails to explore, great views of the lake, and great food at the restaurant on site. All RV sites had plenty of trees and shade and there were private shower/bathroom facilities. Will definitely go again. All the park staff were very friendly and amazing as well. There is also cabins and tent camping areas you can stay at here if you don't have a camper to bring. One thing to mention is that the RV site I stayed at was a bit un-level so make sure to bring levelers and chocks.

Beautiful nature and place , serene , peaceful and exactly what we needed to decompress. The staff was very kind and friendly and made our thanksgiving weekend so pleasant with activities every day planned. I loved loved the observatory and seeing Saturn And Jupiter. The restaurant food could be upgraded to match the resort experience. I loved the trails and we will definitely go back for spring to try hiking more trails. Our room was so nice with my dog being welcomed. We had beautiful starry nights and pristine lake views and gorgeous sunsets. We loved the entire experience. Thank you !

At first, I wasn’t planning to leave a public review as I typically only leave very positive reviews, but after sending a private message and processing just how many things went wrong, (more than I am including here), I think I should share our experience. There was no hot water in the room so my daughter and I both took a cold shower, the coffee maker was broken, I was overcharged at breakfast (please update your signs so people understand what is not included in the breakfast buffet), we had an exceedingly long check in time, and the list goes on and on. At the end of it all, we felt like we just were waiting around for 20 to 30 minutes at a time (checking in, renting e-bikes, etc) waiting on people to do their jobs. This place has so much potential but we found the whole experience to be underwhelming. On a positive note, we enjoyed a nice dinner and the chef was fantastic (try the prime rib and green beans!)

I had a wonderful two-night stay at Canyon of the Eagles. The property was incredibly peaceful, and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. I especially appreciated the tranquility of the surroundings. We rented e-bikes and explored some trails, though a couple of them were closed during our visit. If trail access is a key part of your trip, I’d recommend calling ahead to confirm which ones are open. The room was rustic, clean, and didn’t have a TV, which wasn’t an issue for us—it added to the peaceful vibe. The on-site restaurant offered good food, though the menu was somewhat limited. I had hoped for a cocktail, but I wasn’t able to get one because a supervisor wasn’t available to serve alcohol. While there’s a separate bar on the property, it was closed for a private event during our stay. Despite these minor inconveniences, everything else more than made up for it: the stunning views, the serenity, the friendly staff, and the cozy accommodations. It was a very enjoyable getaway from the city. Picture of sunset from outside room K4.

Beautiful property. Lots of fun things to do (hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, observatory, and just plain relaxing). Food was good, both dinner and breakfast. I took one star off as the bathroom fixtures, tubs, vanities are a bit dated.
