Went in August with 3 adults 2 children. 2 under 2 Children. Only ended up staying 1 hour and left. 3 weeks before our date our kids got pneumonia. Both kids are two under two. We asked to cancel or change the date. We were told a manger would call us back. 1 week before we called again and they couldn't give us an answer because the manger needed to make the call. We Payed attention to our phone and never missed a call. We showed up on our date. The kids were doing good enough. It's was 50/50 but because we never got an answer we didn't want to loose 250$ We drove a suburban with an open trailer for all our camping stuff. Never had a problem in May when we went earlier in the year. At that time even a staff member said "nice trailer, nice set up" I have camped all my life with a truck and an open trailer to haul all the needed camping stuff and never had one campsite say anything. This places bathrooms are terrible. Most of their activities were closed. The playground is in the middle of nowhere. Zero staff members patrolling the grounds for loud music and other many disturbances. As soon as we walked in to grab our bathroom key and car tag it was the end of world to them that we had most of our camping stuff in an open trailer. Before I go anywhere, I am sure to read all the rules and I did. They explained that the trailer can't be left on the campsite That we should be able to fit all of our stuff in the back of the suburban. I explained how it wasn't listed on their website for their rules and that last time it was not a problem and we did not encroach on the other two campsites beside us. The suburban was packed and the trailer was fully packed also. We also brought up the fact that we weren't even sure if we were gonna go because the children are still technically sick but The manager Haven't gotten back to us. The office girls remembered us calling. They said well that Trailer can't go to the campsite sooo.,, I said well go get the manager, please. He was supposed to speak with us anyways. Just standing around The kids were still in the truck with The Motherin Law and we said you know what we'll meet him at the campsite we need to get the kids out of the truck. He shows up , we talk ,we start to unload and then he gets all pissed because he had no idea that he was supposed to call us back. He explains that the trailers are danger, then we go back-and-forth and he explains how the campsite has no Liability for anyone. he owns all the land. He's been doing this for 30 years. No Corperation owns this place , he has all his staff do the work not him , He's never let open trailers on a campsite . Justin Almighty nobody can touch me ,. I have a shiny truck. Blah blah, blah blah He also insulted me about my business and that I know nothing about liability insurance because my business is a joke. We said you know what we've had enough of you. We're leaving ,refund our money. He said sure I'll do that later tonight. I said you couldn't even Call us back. We start loading everything back up on the trailer. He did the refund on his phone and we got A confirmation email which was good enough. We eventually called around and found a new place to camp that day and it was the best. Don't go here go somewhere else.
We have stayed at maple park many times over the years. This past summer we spent a few nights and had a great time. We love the pond, the activities in the rec room & the snack shack/ ice cream. A few things I would be mindful of are the prices for water and electric for tenting seems to be a little high for what you get. Also the amount of second hand smoke was a large turn off. They did just make smoking on the beach prohibited but people would just stand next to the beach on the road and chain smoke. Otherwise we had a nice stay and I am sure will be back in the future.
I have stayed here for years and love it. There is so much for kids to do. I don't understand the bad reviews about staff....if you read the rules then you should be fine. I have never had a problem with staff. These rules are for safety and by the state on the fires. It's not the parks fault. The manager is amazing and the rest of the office staff as well. The snack shack is amazing and the employees are very personable and smiling. Don't let someone's bad reviews about rules ruin your good time.
The cabin was beautiful, lots of things to do for the kids and adults. Food at the shack was really good. The grounds were clean and well kept. Highly recommend it
This was our second year we typically stay in a 40ft 50a space for a month. The park itself is very nice with a lot of things to do for the kiddos. The park is very tight for big campers like ours and a guide to take us in would have been extremely helpful. When we brought our golf cart in and tried to register it the staff was extremely rude about it. Also we had a change in plans and need to leave a few days early and again we were meet with a poor attitude. In summation the park is fun as long as you don’t change your plans or have to make any additional arrangements with management.
