This camp is well-suited for group events, particularly retreats, and can accommodate large gatherings. The location offers a blend of natural scenery and functional facilities, making it suitable for various group activities. However, it is important to note that the camp has some deferred maintenance.
Here's what Capital Mountain Camp offers:
- Group Accommodations: Capable of hosting large groups, as evidenced by a church retreat with over 100 people.
- Cabin Facilities: Offers cabins, some with full bathrooms, while others use shared bathroom stalls.
- Chapel Area: A communal space that can be heated, providing a cozy atmosphere, especially in colder weather.
- Dining Commons: A communal dining area, though it may require walking and stair usage.

- Beautiful Scenery: The camp is situated in a scenic location, offering beautiful natural surroundings.
- Limited Connectivity: Expect limited or no Wi-Fi and cell service, promoting a disconnected experience.
Based on customer reviews, Capital Mountain Camp offers a beautiful setting and is suitable for group retreats. However, there are some considerations to keep in mind. The camp's infrastructure may require some maintenance, and the food quality has been noted as lacking in nutritional value. Additionally, GPS navigation can be challenging at night, and signal is spotty on the property.
Despite these considerations, the camp offers a unique opportunity for groups to bond and connect in a natural setting. The lack of connectivity can be seen as an advantage for those seeking a break from technology and a chance to focus on interpersonal interaction.
If you're planning a group retreat or event in Weimar, CA, Capital Mountain Camp offers a scenic location and functional facilities. However, it's essential to be aware of the maintenance and food quality issues mentioned in customer reviews.

Customer Reviews
This was a good connection for church that used the facilities for a two day retreat for over 100+ people. I believe owner mentioned usually not having a big group in the winter. I really thought I was going to be cold the whole time but the chapel area with all the people and the heater on for awhile got too cozy...this was everyone's first time. We did advice all to bring good walking shoes since it is a good distance to walk to dinning commona and use stairs to get to the cabins. I was happy that there was lighting around cabins. Some cabins have a full bathroom. Those who do not would use the stalls that were in the bottom. For a few people it was a bit difficulty to follow GPS at night time. Signal gets cut off once on the site. There's at times some spotty signal. Overall all establishments were in fair order, might need some TLC but all is good for the purpose of what we needed especially during winter time.
The scenery is beautiful! The pool is very clean. There is no wifi or cell service so it makes for a good place to bond and connect with others. I'm giving 2 stars because the food is not nutritious and maintance has been deferred for so long that there are safety risks. The decks are in disrepair and need to be replaced. A few simple changes in menu would allow for healthier more energizing meals, especially when you are so physically active all day.
The weather was cool, and made it so pleasant for end of June. This camp serves Christian Groups, and will allow groups to provide their own meals if they prefer. Privately run. Really appreciate this couple who served us.
Great place. Good food, nice facility for large group camp outs. Not too far a drive out, but far enough to feel off the grid
Good campground for camps, but needs a little more maintenance and more taking care of the cabins.
