Customer Reviews
This is a great primitive campground that directly connects you to the many trail systems in the area. Very reasonable priced, but be sure you have a Michigan passport if visiting from out of state. The only amenities provided are pit toilets and fresh water, other than that you are on your own. The campsites are roomy and clean with a picnic table and fire ring at each site. Most sites are big enough to accommodate vehicles pulling campers and trailers.
It's really beautiful and super close to Orv trails. Right next to gas station, creeks, amazing views, gorgeous forest, and awesome trees. Was very comfortable at the campsite. The outhouse style bathrooms were riddled with wasps most the time so idk if they actually would hurt or mess with people or not, but didn't stick around to find out. Would def recommend either way. The price $20 a night was ok, the camp was pretty clean and campsites were spacious and gave some privacy. Will def be back
For ORV enthusiasts, Carrieville State Forest Campground is a great combination of rustic camping with direct access to the local DNR trail system. Camp sites are spacious with a decent amount of trees between neighboring lots. Sites include a picnic table and fire pit. This is rustic camping. The only "facilities" provided are outhouse style toilets in several locations and hand pumped water, so plan accordingly.
As stated by many others great orv campground. Get use to the noise at all times even at night and dust in the dry months. Trails were groomed the first morning there which was nice. Be careful if your going to the federal land. They’re strict.
