Great! First experience at Carter lake South shore Campground! There are many great sites around the campground, some shaded, some not. All of them have a picnic table, campfire pit, and level grass area. I had a pull through site that was very level and easy to enter and exit. Great view of the lake right by the boat ramp. Lots of boat activity as you would expect on a hot summer weekend in July. I didn't see any empty sites so make sure you get a reservation! There is also a dump station for the campground at the ranger station.
This campground is awesome! The spots to camp are clean and well kept and everyone was very respectful. We were one of the furthest from the lake but it was still very easy to get the kayaks down to the water. The people working there are very nice and they take good care of the grounds. The grass was a little long for the season but it did just rain for like 2 weeks. Bathrooms were VERY clean which is rare. Will definitely come back!
Loved our stay. Clean location, bathroom, and water. Camp host was attentive and kind. Appreciated the forest Rangers for their communication and diligence.
Got a great spot that lead down to the lake.
We visited Carter Lake in late October. The lake was low and the campground water was turned off but that was expected. We were in site 20 and loved the space and pathway down to the lake
