Casey KOA Journey Introduce
Casey KOA Journey, strategically located near Interstate 70 in Casey, Illinois, represents a quintessential offering within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category. As a "KOA Journey" campground, it is specifically designed to provide a convenient and comfortable oasis for travelers on the road, as well as those seeking a quick getaway. This campground capitalizes on its proximity to the charming town of Casey, famous for its collection of "Big Things in a Small Town." Operating seasonally, typically from April 1 to October 31, Casey KOA Journey offers a range of services and goods to ensure a pleasant stay for diverse campers. This objective introduction will detail the campground's environment, services, features, and available promotional information, based on publicly accessible data.
The environment of Casey KOA Journey is characterized by its clean, well-maintained grounds and a surprising amount of natural beauty, despite its easy access from the interstate. The campground features mature trees that provide ample shade for many of its sites, contributing to a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. While it is surrounded by what some describe as rural, agricultural fields (cornfields), the interior of the park is meticulously groomed with manicured lawns and newly planted landscaping. There is also a small, picturesque fishing lake, sometimes referred to as "Lake Itty Bit," adding to the serene ambiance and providing pleasant views, especially at sunrise. The sites are generally level and gravel, ensuring easy setup for RVs. The overall aesthetic is welcoming and tidy, making it a comfortable stop for travelers. Reviewers often commend the park for its quiet nature, despite its accessibility, which is a significant environmental advantage for a "Journey" type KOA.
As a leading example within the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, Casey KOA Journey provides a comprehensive range of services and goods designed to meet the needs of traveling campers. The campground offers a variety of RV sites, including numerous long pull-through sites (up to 70 feet) with 50-amp service, ideal for large rigs that prefer not to unhook. Both full hookup sites (water, electricity, and sewer) and water/electric-only sites are available. For tent campers, premium tent sites are provided. Beyond RV and tent sites, the campground also offers Camping Cabins (without private bathrooms). These one-room cabins typically include a full bed and a bunk bed set, air conditioning for warm nights, a fire ring, and a charcoal grill outside. Guests are generally required to bring their own bedding. Essential facilities include clean and well-maintained restrooms and showers, which often receive high praise for their cleanliness and hot water, though some reviews note low shower heads. A sanitary dump station is available for RV waste disposal. For convenience, a snack bar or food service is on-site, along with propane sales and firewood available for purchase at the store. The camp store itself offers various supplies, minimizing the need to leave the premises. Wi-Fi access is provided throughout the campground, though its strength can vary. There is also a well-lit after-hours check-in service, crucial for travelers arriving late.
The features that enhance the experience at Casey KOA Journey are designed for both relaxation and recreation. A key amenity is the swimming pool, typically open from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend, providing a refreshing escape during the summer months. For families, there is a playground for children. Anglers can enjoy fishing in the private fishing pond (Lake Itty Bit). For pet owners, a KampK9® dog park is available, offering a dedicated, fenced area for dogs to exercise off-leash, highlighting the campground's pet-friendly nature (with a pet fee for cabins and specific rules like leash requirements). Other recreational features may include a basketball court, horseshoe pits, and lawn chess. A pavilion is also available, providing a communal space for gatherings. Each campsite, whether RV or tent, typically comes with a picnic table and a fire ring, facilitating traditional camping activities like outdoor cooking and campfires. A notable feature is the campground's proximity to the town of Casey, Illinois. Casey is famous for its collection of "World's Largest" items, certified by Guinness World Records, such as the largest wind chime, rocking chair, mailbox, golf tee, and more. This unique local attraction provides an engaging off-site activity for campers, encouraging exploration of the town's quaint shops and eateries. The campground often hosts ice cream socials on Saturday nights from Memorial Day to Labor Day, fostering a sense of community and providing simple, enjoyable entertainment.

The campground also participates in national KOA events, such as the "Care Camps Big Weekend" (where a portion of the second night's fee is donated to support children with cancer) and "KOA Rewards Appreciation Weekend" (offering a free second night for KOA Rewards members on specific dates). These promotions provide both financial benefits and opportunities to contribute to charitable causes. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially during peak season and holiday weekends. The campground has specific cancellation policies, with different requirements for RV sites and cabins, often involving a non-refundable deposit for certain periods. Information on check-in/out times, quiet hours, visitor policies (fees apply to visitors, who must register and leave by 10 pm), and pet policies are clearly outlined on their official KOA webpage. Customer Reviews
We stayed for a weekend to enjoy the sights in town. The campground is definitely a stop while traveling campground right off I-70. The campground staff was very kind and helpful. The park was clean and the sites were level. The pool looked well kept but it was a little to cool and rainy to enjoy. I would stay again if in the area.
We stayed here one night and that was too long. I have no complaints about personnel, as the fellow we dealt with was pleasant. The park itself leaves a lot to be desired. The price was one of the highest we have paid at a KOA and was the least worthy of the almost $70 fee!!! Pea gravel spaces that were not very level. Muddy all around our space and every where we walked with our dog!!! I hated to even take him out!!!!! Maybe at a drier time it wouldn’t be so muddy, but it there we a lot of trees which prevented the sun from drying out the ground.
Once again KOA did not disappoint. A small. QUIET cabin with super clean KOA bathrooms. The gentleman at the desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Casey is a cute quaint and quiet town with a fantastic resteraunt. All in all it was a great weekend. Now to get back to reality.
Nice looking KOA and that's where it ends. Owner is RUDE! Due to unexpected RV problems which required it going to manufacturer for repairs I had to cancel our reservation. It was exactly 7 days out, but owner said it had to be 7 days in-between, so no refund. Could not reschedule without knowing how long RV was in for repairs. Owner said no refund because they are a "small operation" might be a "small operation" because of owner's attitude and our perceived greediness of owner. Each time we pass through the area the park is empty often, maybe there's a reason. I had to call 3 other KOA's to cancel and ALL 3 refunded us with no problem. One KOA was 3 days away. Good customer service speaks volumes to us and bad customer service speaks even louder. We will never stay at this KOA again unless it's under new ownership and management.
we spent two nights here and toured Casey Illinois for the majority of our time here. The laundry room is clean and cozy, although we are just starting out on our trip, so we did not use it. wash is currently $2 for 25 min and dry is currently a quarter for 5 min. four washers top load and three dryers (2 sm and 1 oversized). the bathroom/shower is very clean. the showers have a wooden door that locks and a curtain between your dry clothes and the shower space. hot water in the showers was very nice. the spaces are a nice size with picnic table and fire ring. Our site was level. Gravel driveway at sites.Staff is exceptionally wonderful. I would not hesitate to stay here again. I felt safe and welcomed. traffic from 70 can be muffled with a fan in the camper if it bothers you. sweet train in the distance. neither one will keep me from booking here. only about 15 minutes from town to see the big things. it's an hour east of the Great Kaskaskia Dragon just down West interstate 70 in the town of Vandalia. Lincoln's parents log cabin is just north of Greenup. We had a wonderful time calling this place home for a couple of days. Highly recommend. we were in lot 17.
