Went the other week with the family. two teen girls were working at the front desk. Never have I made an online reservation, let alone pay online. I've been going to this lake for years. Every since I was a boy scout. And have always paid cash. I was told that they no longer accept cash payments. Cash is king. Colorado has a law that businesses have to accept cash as payment. Why does Wellington Lake not have to follow the law?
The kid (16?) who works at the reception desk doesn't like campers and actively tries to persuade you not to stay here. If you have the max allowed for a "non-group"? campsite, which is 6, then he gives you an attitude the whole time and acts like they are all doing you a favor for being even remotely hospitable.. The reception area could use a class on customer service or how to work at a business. It's laughable. I would absolutely never camp here again for any reason. It's a nice lake, with ignorant people who visibly don't even want you there. Fairly disrespectful employees toward paying customers. I'll go to where the people are kind and friendly.
This is a private campground that is owned largely to control water rights of the "lake" technically a reservoir. It's very clean and set up for convenience camping. That said, it is expensive; we generally only go there for day trips at the lake, but we go every year.
You're not supposed to have your dog's off. Leash and the campground host doesn't enforce it
