Castle Rock Campground was amazing! This was the perfect spot for our small group camping trip over Halloween weekend. Plenty of level sites to set up your tent. There are two fire rings. One is quite large and near the covered shelter - perfect for hanging out around at the end of the night. We didn’t use the other smaller fire ring as we all had camp stoves - that one is out in the field more and has a grate that swings over for cooking or heating up water. The vault toilet was cleaner than most I’ve seen and did not have any smells. The shelter area is gorgeous with four large picnic tables underneath and plenty of space. There are three additional picnic tables dispersed throughout the site. We were SO happy there was power available - what a cool new feature! The power stems from the light post near the vault toilet so bring some extension cords so you can have power under the shelter (30’+ distance). There was very minimal noise from the road and we barely noticed it. Would mention that the lock can be quite difficult to get locked and unlocked, however it is worth keeping locked as a few people tried to come fish at the site while we were there whenever we left it open for a moment. Most were very understanding when we explained the situation that the gate was only unlocked as someone was about to leave and we had reserved the site. Be sure to bring water and firewood but if you run out, there’s a great little market in Hebo that has all you need and the folks there are super nice (huge bonus). Ranger Scott at the Hebo Ranger Station was extremely kind and helpful and we look forward to coming back quite often - thank you!

Great time large camping area, needs better signage at road though. Gave only 4 stars because even with gate, people pull in and walk around gate into campground you have rented @ $83 a night (with service fee).

Not sure what they call 6 campsites here. When we drove in to check it out the gate was closed by the group that was staying there. Although it is a public place.

A very nice campground, plenty big enough for a medium-sized gathering/campout, there is a dumpster in the parking lot, a pit toilet, and a couple of power outlets by the pit toilet. The highway is right next to here, so you hear the occasional car go by. There's a very nice stream right next to the campground and a nice big firepit by the shelter. All the picnic tables are big and good quality. There is no water here except for the stream.

Great campground, but could use just another couple of improvements. There is no water (except the creek running by) and the vault toilet had apparently been forgotten about all summer - it was close to overflowing. There is a single outlet, some distance from the pavilion structure. Nice, big, sturdy picnic tables under the shelter and a dumpster in the parking lot. A bit of road noise, as you're camping right next to the highway, but the creek drowns most of it out. Graffiti under the bridge, but that was about on par with my entire experience of Western Oregon - they like their graffiti.
