Introduce

Cave Creek Campgrounds, located at 1543 Cave Creek Rd in Falls of Rough, Kentucky, USA, offers a camping experience with a focus on outdoor activities, particularly mountain biking. As part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, this campground provides a range of amenities and natural attractions for visitors.

Cave Creek Campgrounds offers the following features and services:

  • Paved RV Sites: Nice paved sites, particularly in the C loop.
  • Mountain Biking Trails: 3 levels of well-maintained mountain bike trails.
  • Rural Location for Road Biking: Used backroads for a 25-mile ride.
  • Proximity to Lodge and Restaurant: Easy ride to the lodge and restaurant across from the airport.
  • Cave Exploration: Check out the cave, although it has graffiti.
  • Quiet Campground: It's a very quiet campground.
  • Helpful Staff: The manager or volunteer lady Charlie was a sweet lady.

However, it is important to be aware of the following potential challenges:

  • Rocky Terrain for Tent Camping: Lots of pointy rocks, ground is super hard "clay".
  • Drainage Issues: Had to make a lil river so the water could rush down hill, almost flooded out.
  • Inconvenient Showers: Timer goes off in 25 minutes, requiring frequent button pressing.
  • Tick-Infested Swimming Area: Steep hill to swimming area is full of ticks, prickly bushes, and poison ivy.
  • Remote Location: Far from gas stations stores.
  • Dry County: Can't buy alcohol.
  • Site Availability Misinformation: ALOT of the campsites were empty when I was told and showed on site that half of the sites were not available.

Guests have reported mixed experiences at Cave Creek Campgrounds. While the mountain biking trails and quiet atmosphere are positive aspects, the rocky terrain, drainage issues, inconvenient showers, and tick-infested swimming area are notable drawbacks. Potential visitors should carefully consider these factors before planning a stay.

Cave Creek Campgrounds has mixed reviews. Potential visitors should be aware of the issues reported.

Nice paved site. We were in the c loop of this small campground. If you mountain bike this is a great location. They have 3 levels of mountain bike trails that are well maintained. Unfortunately, there are no paved bike paths but the area is so rural that we used the backroads to get in a 25 mile ride. The lodge is an easy ride away. There is also another restaurant across from the airport. Be sure to check out the cave! The entrance is small but it opens up inside. The graffiti is a disappointment in the cave but I can’t blame the campground for that.

It was a great campground, wish I would of known that tents were on other side with grass, we had a site and had to make a lil river so the water could rush down hill we were almost flooded out, lots of pointy rocks for my dog, not really for kids, bathrooms with showers you have a code, you have to press the button on the door. But the timer goes off in 25 minutes so what ever your doing you have to press the button on the door again, very inconvenient specially if ur on toilet or in the middle of a shower, the place to susposly swim you have to look for the lil path that goes down a steep hill, that is FULL OF TICKS... AND PRICKLY BUSHES, POISON IVY, our campsite we broke many metal tent sticks, the ground is super hard "clay" it's a very quiet campground, far from gas stations stores, ITs a dry county so can't buy alcohol, the manager or volunteer lady charlie was a sweet lady!!!! Wish we would of known that ALOT of the campsites were empty when I was told and showed on site that half of the sites were not available!!

Beautiful. Most sites are gravel. The lower loop has paved sites. The water level is currently low.

We stayed at Camp Creek last week. Our host was fabulous and super friendly. All campgrounds should have a host like her. Facilities were immaculate. The campgrounds were well taken care of. We will definitely return.
