Explore family camping activities that bring all ages together, from outdoor games and scenic hikes to memorable campfire fun that creates lasting memories.
Nestled in the heart of Alta, Wyoming, Cave Falls Campground offers a unique and remote camping experience for those seeking solitude and natural beauty. Located along Forest Road 006, this campground is perfect for adventurers who want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature.
The campground features pull-through spots, making it convenient for RV travelers. While the facilities are rustic, with no electrical hookups or campground host, the breathtaking views of the river and surrounding wilderness more than compensate. Each site comes with a picnic table and a BBQ grill, though some may require a bit of DIY spirit due to wear and tear.
One of the standout features of Cave Falls Campground is its remote location. The journey to the campground involves navigating a long, washboard gravel road, but the effort is rewarded with a serene and uncrowded environment. This is the ideal spot for campers who value privacy and a close connection to nature.
However, visitors should be prepared for the local wildlife, including mosquitoes, which can be quite active during certain times of the year. Despite this, many campers have found the experience to be unforgettable, with some describing it as a "beautiful campground" that offers a true escape from the modern world.
Customer feedback highlights both the challenges and the rewards of staying at Cave Falls Campground. While some have noted the lack of maintenance and the presence of mosquitoes, others have praised the campground for its beauty and remote charm. As one camper put it, "For those looking for a remote campsite away from people with a view of the river, this is it."

A pretty run down campground. There is no campground host, no electrical spots and it's not very well maintained. But for those people looking for a remote campsite away from people with a view of the river, this is it. You have to take a very long washboard gravel road to get there. Every spot is a pull through, there is no back in. A lot of the picnic tables have fallen apart and some of the bbq grills have fallen off.
Beautiful campground. The mosquitoes tried to carry us away. HORRIBLE! We've never seen mosquitoes that bad. Paid for 2 nights, we only lasted 1. Will not be back!
This is a beautiful part of the park. Take a short hike in to see even more of the falls.
It's a nice campground but It cost me four new tires when I got back home. The road to get there is so washboarded that I felt I needed to get an alignment but left on a Sunday. good luck finding someone open on a Sunday. I had no choice but to get home by Monday for work. when you replace tires on a car that is all wheel drive you must replace all. ( 1,600.00 ) Next camp trip in Wy will be in the Tetons or Yellowstone
A great campground, very clean & quiet.
