The Cedar Grove Lodge is a bit of a mixed bag. In terms of location, I think it's great. It's VERY far into Kings Canyon National Park so may be an awkward jumping-off point for Sequoia National Park, but amazing for Kings Canyon. Nestled along the river, it's stunning. The staff is friendly and helpful, the lodge restaurant is good with tasty vegetarian options. The rooms though... The walls are so thin that I heard my neighbor's ice clink in their glass, not to mention every sneeze and cough. The floors were so dirty we had to keep our shoes on at all times. The mattress needed updating. I would visit the area again for sure, but might opt for camping next time so I get a better night's sleep.

Lodge was perfect as a launch point for hiking in Kings Canyon. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed the food at the grill for what it was. Ultimately if you are there to enjoy the outdoors this is a great place to get some sleep and grab a bite.

Amazing location in the middle of Kings Canyon that serves as a great base for exploration. Fantastic seating by the river or on the veranda to chill with a drink (head a little upriver for the best sunrise/sunset views). The rooms are dated but more than comfortable after a long day of hiking/exploring the park. Walls and connecting doors are thin, so unless you have the A/C on, you're liable to hear your neighbors but you'll probably be tired to care! Internet available, but connection is rare (you're not here for that anyway, right?). Lodge and market service is pretty good given they seem generally short staffed and/or have individuals covering multiple roles. The grill is severely understaffed, leading them to occasionally close down during posted hours, so either be patient or make backup plans for dinner.

I have read many reviews regarding Cedagr Groce lodge Yes the rooms are older. I did not choose to stay here for room aesthetics. I chose to stay her for the location! It was worth it!! The staff at check in and at the market were friendly and helpful. The view and lounge chairs at the river were a nice place to relax. Don’t miss the night sky here! The price was good for the location to me and to not have to drive back out after a day long exploration of Kings Canyon park!

Remote lodge built in 1970s along a beautiful river and stunning terrain. Ranger visitor station walking distance for information. Easy access hiking to waterfall and scenic views as well as more challenging hikes for the well experienced - all very near by. Great place to get away from phones, internet, etc. as there is very limited service. Lodge has back up power. Parking is close by and easy access. Limited variety of cooked items at the snack bar, but tasty. Very few bugs that are easily repelled by light application of you preferred repellant. There are coffee makers in room, but no refrigerators. If you bring a cooler, you can get ice within the lodge. Queen size beds are comfortable and the room air conditioning is more than ample.
