Cedar Ridge Backcountry Campsite Introduce

Cedar Ridge Backcountry Campsite, located at 7511 Creek Rd, Germantown, OH 45327, and reachable at (937) 277-4374 or +1 937-277-4374, falls under the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, specifically catering to those seeking a primitive backpacking experience. It is important to note that this campsite requires a permit from Five Rivers Metroparks for use.

As a primitive campsite, Cedar Ridge offers a basic setup designed for backpackers. There are three designated campsites, each accommodating 1-2 small tents, along with a common area for cooking and eating. A latrine is provided for sanitation. Each campsite includes a pole with hooks for hanging food bags, backpacks, or lanterns. Campfires are not allowed, so campers must bring a camp stove for cooking. Water is not available at the campsite, requiring campers to pack in their own water or retrieve and purify water from the nearby river, which may require a half mile hike.

Customer reviews highlight the campsite's cleanliness and maintenance. The site is described as well-maintained, and campers often find ample space and privacy between campsites. The bug presence is reported to be minimal, and wildlife encounters are generally uneventful.

However, the campsite's proximity to roads, specifically SR 725 (0.4 miles) and Creek Rd. (0.1 miles), results in noticeable road noise, particularly in the evenings. Additionally, some campers have reported hearing gunshots from across the river.

Despite the noise, the campsite is located within a beautiful and well-maintained park. It offers a secluded experience for those seeking a primitive backpacking adventure. Potential visitors should be prepared for the lack of amenities and the need to pack in all supplies, including water. If you are looking for a campground and RV park, it is recommended to consider this location for a primitive back country experience.

This is a primitive backpacking campsite, and can be used only with a permit from Five Rivers Metroparks (it was only $10, and is less on weekdays and in the off-season). There are 3 campsites with room for 1-2 small tents each, a common area for cooking/eating, and a latrine. Each campsite has a pole with hooks to hang your food bag/backpack/lantern. No fires allowed here, so bring a camp stove. There is no water, so you'll have to pack it in, or go get it from the river and purify it. I had to walk about half a mile to get close enough to the river to get cooking water without having to bushwhack or climb down an embankment. It was very clean and well maintained, and I had the place to myself. Plenty of room between campsites if you did have company. The bugs weren't bad at all, and if there were any racoons or other critters around, they left me alone. The only downside was the noise in the evening. SR 725 is about 0.4 mile away, and Creek Rd. is 0.1 miles away - apparently everyone in Ohio with a motorcycle decided to drive down them last night. I could also hear gunshots from across the river somewhere just before sunset.
