This is my absolute favorite place I've camped. The sites are quiet and private even if you have neighbors. There's well water and pit toilets. There's a large gas station roughly ~10 miles from the campground. The sites we've stayed at have had a little hill leading directly to the river which has always been warm when we've stayed and is full of crawfish and other little river critters. There are a few hiking trails which are beautiful. There are as many bugs as you'd expect for rural Michigan, but they were MUCH better this year (early July 2023) than last year (early July 2022). We didn't have any ticks on us and the dog only had a few, we all had repellent on. We come here to escape the chaos of the 4th of July in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and love it. There was only one other group of people staying at the campground while we were there this year. Like others have said, don't follow Google Maps directions to get here. Stay on 551 and you'll start seeing signs for the campground.

Stayed at Cedar River campground for the weekend. Sites are perfect whether your have a tent or camper. Right next to the river. The campground sites are nestled in the forest away from the road. Best campground I’ve ever been to. Bathrooms/Outhouses are very decent in size and very clean. Was very impressed!

DON’T FOLLOW GOOGLE! Wasted an hour bashing through the bush only to end up on the wrong side on the river. Stay on 551 and look for the sign. Road from 551 into the campsite is not on Google Maps. Beautiful hidden spot on a nice river. June 20th 2021 and the bugs were not an issue.

No handle on the well. How can you have horses here without water ?. Pretty pricey for a very rustic campground. 20$ a night plus some ridiculous “pass port” fee. I’m sure that’ll turn folks away. Cheaper to stay at one of the Menominee County Parks.

Don't use Google maps! From Menominee, go up 35 to 551, then you'll see signs for the campground. Campground itself is basic - pit toilet with tp, trash cans, fire pit, sites with picnic table and space for a tent, some equestrian sites, some group sites. Most sites are next to the river. Wooded, secluded. No camp minder/host/ ranger, so stayed up all night listening to a group partying with loud music and vomiting. Other than that group, would have been lovely time in the woods. Everyone else in the campground was quiet. Lots of dead downed trees around for finding firewood. Horseflies were awful next to the water, so no swimming for me. $20/night.
