Beautiful park, good RV camping. Electrical boxes were placed for 2 RVs per post in some areas, and you may need very long cables as a result. Lots of areas need landscaping maintenance. They were trimming trees when we were there and did a good job on some but missed a ton of areas where RVs could touch. Needs some work but always a nice place to stay.

Great campground. Inexpensive and easy to get to. Staff is friendly and bathrooms are pretty clean. Sites are only 12 bucks if you can do without electric and 25 otherwise. A site is plenty big enough to park my truck boat and a big tent. I bring my grill anyway but there's a flip over grate for the fire pit if you don't have one. This place does get busy during the summer. Reservations need to be made 3 days in advance or it's first come first serve. Go and enjoy 👍.

The reason for the picture of the Slush Puppie - It was the BEST Slush Puppie we had in our opinion. We liked it so much we went back to the Concession/Boat Rental Store for seconds ^_^. Good Chicago Style Hot Dogs too.

Overall, a good State Park to camp in. Chicago is nearby. Cleaning is substandard than the bar set by other state parks and national park campgrounds. Toilets run out of toilet paper (I'll advise you to carry some in case you plan to visit). The campground can get noisy on a long weekend. You will hear train sounds at night. Please be advised that the gates are closed at 10PM local time(Please check the exact closing time before you visit). We didn't visit any trails. The lake in the park is not pretty. But this is all you can expect in a state park that doesn't charge any entrance fee, charges minimally for the campsites and is near Chicago!

Beautiful scenery. Abundant wild flowers. Some of the sites are very spacious. Some Of the sites are very private. Staff very helpful. Close to Chicago. Most sites only 30 amp. None have water or sewer hookups. Some sites have no power and a very small number have 50 Amp. Power = deluxe site. There is only enough water pressure to fill your tanks in a few places. Showers suffer from same low pressure. Shower houses have flush toilets, but mostly there are vault toilets. No one wants to use those so shower house toilets are crowded. The whole area is focused on being open on the weekends and not so Much during the week. Gravel and grass for most sites. Roads are paved. Warnings for ticks and poison plants on check in info. Lots of insects. Fox Den area is newer than Honeysuckle, but is still quite dated. Rental boats are kayaks and canoes. Fishing seems to be quite popular in the area.
