Channel Marker Campsite On Grand Island Introduce
Channel Marker Campsite On Grand Island, located at F83C+G7, Williams Landing, MI 49862, offers a unique camping experience on Grand Island. As part of the Campgrounds & RV Parks category, this campsite provides access to a small beach area and the natural beauty of the island.
The campsite is praised for its scenic location and the enjoyment of campfire evenings. Visitors particularly enjoy the proximity to the small beach area, which enhances the camping experience. However, potential campers should be aware that mosquitos can be prevalent, though the campsite itself may have fewer than some trail areas. The campsite offers a primitive experience, and campers should prepare accordingly.
Key features and considerations:
- Beach access for recreational activities.
- Campfire availability for evening enjoyment.
- Significant mosquito presence, requiring appropriate repellent.
- Vault toilet facilities on-site, which may not be well-maintained.
- Access to cleaner facilities at the visitor center, a half-mile walk away.
- Consider bringing bikes for easier island exploration.
- Please be mindful of litter and pack out all trash.
Reviews highlight the beauty of the location but also point out the challenges of mosquito presence and the condition of the on-site vault toilet. The availability of cleaner facilities at the visitor center is a notable convenience, though it requires a walk. The recommendation to bring bikes suggests that exploring the island is a worthwhile activity.
For those seeking a rustic island camping experience with beach access, Channel Marker Campsite on Grand Island offers a unique opportunity. However, campers should be prepared for potential inconveniences and take necessary precautions.

Customer Reviews
We absolutely loved our night at Channel Marker campsite. We spent most of our time over on the little beach area and then enjoyed a campfire before bed. The mosquitos are NO joke but didn’t seem as bad at site as some of the trail areas. Only bad thing was the disgusting vault toilet out in the open at the back of the site area that someone had used and “missed” with a land mine going down the side and it had not been cleaned. The half mile walk back to the visitor center was quick and worth it for the clean facilities. Next time we will for sure bring bikes to access more of the island. We also picked up quite a bit of trash around the island that people had just left. Drink bottles, cans and empty bug spray bottles. So sad that people think it’s OK to just leave their trash like that.
