Serenity Amidst Chaos: A Review of Joint Base Charleston FamCamp Our stay at Joint Base Charleston FamCamp was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, weary from a long journey fraught with challenges, FamCamp offered solace and sanctuary. Despite a rocky start with the Visitor pass closed for the day, the vigilant security forces at the gate provided a glimmer of hope. With their assistance, we were granted entry, paving the way for a restorative stay. The Camp Host, a guiding light in our time of need, ensured our comfort with a temporary spot for the night. Their hospitality set the tone for the rest of our stay—a seamless blend of care and consideration. Morning brought renewed optimism as we navigated the administrative waters with ease at the MWR office. Sgt. Rivera's professionalism and efficiency were commendable, streamlining the process of obtaining passes and paving the way for exploration. Exploration revealed FamCamp's true allure—a tranquil haven amidst the chaos of life. With fewer sites than expected, the campground exuded a quaint charm, enhanced by its recreational offerings—a true gem waiting to be discovered. From basketball courts to tennis courts, picnic grounds to the adjacent golf course, FamCamp catered to every whim. Yet, it was the small comforts—a working soda machine, well-maintained facilities—that left a lasting impression, a testament to the attention to detail that defines FamCamp. Our plans expanded in the embrace of FamCamp's allure, extending our stay to explore nearby attractions. Fort Sumter and Patriot Park provided glimpses into history, enriching our journey and leaving us with memories to cherish. As we bid farewell to FamCamp, our hearts filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the respite it offered amidst life's chaos, gratitude for the kindness of strangers who became allies in our journey. Joint Base Charleston FamCamp is more than a campground—it's a sanctuary for the soul, a haven we shall carry with us forevermore. Thomas Corrao Stray Compass life

I wish to thank everyone at the Joint base Charleston Fam Camp and at outdoor recreation office. People were friendly and worked hard to ensure our stay was a pleasant one. Been a few years since we were back in the low country and it did not disappoint. Great back in spot with plenty of shade. Military personnel on the base were kind, tactful and very professional. We love it. The campground is also close to the golfcourse, a plus for us golfers. Showers and Laundry house are clean and functional. We will definitely be back.

Nice big sites, friendly staff and easy check in. In a quiet spot on base where you can take a short walk to the airfield and watch planes take off. Reliable power and water.

This was an amazing find just outside of Charleston for $23/night. The staff was very friendly at check in and one of the camp hosts stopped by to make sure we were set. The spot we had (#11) was a pull through on an extremely long and wide concrete pad with FHU. The bathrooms were neat and clean and we saw the camp hosts cutting firewood and doing other maintenance. I would say the only drawback is the proximity to the commercial airport with its early morning and late night flights. You don't get a spot # when making a reservation. They call you the day of to get your arrival time and assign a spot. The last ferry ride of the day out to Fort Sumter to see Evening Colors is pretty special.

The sites are conveniently located next to the golf course, walking trails and tennis courts. There’s a super clean laundry area. The camp host and Outdoor Rec area folks are super helpful! We are enjoying our stay!
