Customer Reviews
The RV park is nicely shaded and offers full hookups. The staff is friendly. We stayed in #9, a pull-through site where we had good privacy and trees. The sewer hub was, unfortunately, too high for adequate drainage and a little difficult to access from the rear of our RV. We used the laundry room, which was clean and in working order. We recommend getting to this park well before sunset, as the area is super dark and access roads are narrow and curvy.
Disappointing Experience – Would Not Recommend We are experienced campers and have visited many KOA locations without issue, but unfortunately, our experience at the Charlottesville KOA Holiday campground was extremely disappointing. To start, while we understand and respect quiet hours, we were taken back when the owner approached our group on the first night. Four of us were sitting outside at the picnic table having a conversation (with no music playing), and though we didn’t think we were being loud, we were told to quiet down. It was after 10 pm, and we complied with the noise ordinance as best we could, but the approach felt unnecessary given that we were simply talking. The following day, after spending most of the day away, we returned to enjoy some time at the campground. We followed the campground’s guidelines allowing us to collect sticks and logs for a fire, making sure not to cut anything from a standing tree. At one point, we did put a larger log into the fire to burn it down, which could have been handled more safely by breaking it beforehand – we recognize that mistake. However, what truly shocked us was the way the owner, Brian, aggressively approached our site with a gun visible in his waistband, accusing us of “stealing” sticks from his property. This interaction was highly inappropriate, especially in front of the small children at our site. Additionally, Brian confronted us for playing music at a reasonable volume around 7 pm, stating that if the neighboring site could hear it, it was too loud. Considering how close together the campsites are, it felt impossible to avoid being overheard doing anything. When we attempted to address these issues directly with him, we were met with hostility rather than a constructive conversation. The whole experience was unprofessional and left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we cannot recommend this campground and will not be returning.
Came out here for a weekend with my parents and a couple of friends. I’ve lived at a campground and my parents have been for the last 4-5 years so we understand quiet hours. But seeing how the not just one night but both nights we had the owner come over and get us in trouble. Meanwhile we talked to the neighbors right next to us who we had actually become friends with and had multiple fires with that weekend said from right next to us they couldn’t hear us at all. The owner must be walking the campground and if he can hear you from 5ft away you are being too loud. As stated with many of the reviews the owner just starts trouble for no reason at all because he doesn’t like it. Would not recommend coming to the campground at all
I go camping to enjoy nature and escape the real world. That said, we pulled into our campsite a few minutes ago and discovered that the people in the next site felt the need to put their political views on full display for all to see. I went to the office and asked if there was any policy against erecting political signage on the property like there is at many other campgrounds I've stayed at and the reply was "absolutely not." I told her we wouldn't be back. "Everyone has the right to express their opinion" was the response. So I Googled "political signs KOA" and the results indicated that many, many other KOA's have a policy against displaying political signage and flags on their property, which is the way it should be. KOA corporate only has a policy against displaying the confederate flag, but I'm going to write them and suggest that they expand that policy, because from now on I'm not going to make a reservation at a KOA without first insuring they don't allow it.
GREAT LOCATION! Centered right near a lot of wineries. The staff was very friendly, the campground was clean, quiet, and well taken care of. We stayed in the deluxe cabin which was very nice. There were two AC wall units that worked well, one in the bedroom and the other in the kitchen. The cabin was spacious and had plenty of room. There was 1 full bed, 2 sets of bunk beds, and a futon. The full mattress was very soft in the middle, but otherwise the cabin was great.
