We just stayed here and the sites and grounds were very clean. Beautiful river that looked great to kayak down and fish in, plus nice pavillions, play structures and awesome Disc golf course. They also have an incredible draining system. We were part of Saturday's HUGE overnight rainstorm and once it cleared up in the a.m. there were only small little puddles here and there on the road (very impressed). Easy bike ride into town (need to try out the Malt shop). The only reason I took 1 star off was, even though there was hardly anyone there and we had plenty of space, some of the sites are pretty close together and there is not a picnic table on each site. However, with that said, if they are never full, you wouldn' thave to worry about space. Photos 1-4 are in town and photos 5-6 are in the campground just a little down from our campsite (very calm river).
I live a few blocks from here. This is a great park and sweet little campground. I found this kitten there, thought maybe ske got out of a camper
We stayed for a few days leading up to the Fourth of July. Showboat Park Campground is a nice park, too bad they don't want anyone to camp here! The bathhouse is clean and well cared for. The lawns are mowed every day. The trash cans are emptied every day. The sites are large and level. There are plenty of shade trees. There are pavilions, picnic tables, fire pits, grills, a Disk Golf course, Baseball diamonds, and a canoe launch for the Shiawassee River. The place really has a lot to offer. Here are the reasons I get the impression they don't want people to stay here. The dump pit is locked, they don’t trust you to use it properly. You can never get a hold of anyone for help when you need it. The water stinks real bad. You can’t even make reservations. Nobody knows who's in charge of the place. And worst of all nobody even cares. What a shame!
Campsites aren’t great but the experience is awesome! The Shiawasee River is right here, disc golf is right here, town is a bike ride away, there’s a beautiful variety of trees and nice play parks. The showers are decent also. Also, a fair price!!
Sites are small. The electric poles for the sites are not set up very good...
