A nice park. Chesapeake's prestige park, built in the 70s. Upkeep and major maintenance are intermittent (funding limited, presumably - the staff are great!), though there are nice trails and serviceable boat launches.

We arrived at this campground at 6:32, with vehicle problems and we were refused a campsite because it “closes at 6”. We have been driving all day and apparently Virginia state parks are full and same with the other private parks. I could not believe we were turned away!

Very level camping sites here, only needed a small tongue jack raise to be level in all directions
