🏞️ **Introduction / Overview: Convenient Camping in Schuyler, Nebraska**
The **City of Schuyler Campground** offers Nebraskans a convenient, amenity-rich, and affordable option for overnight or extended stays in Colfax County. Located centrally within the city of Schuyler, this municipal campground is perfectly positioned for travelers and locals alike who seek easy access to both essential services and recreational features. Operating on a **first-come, first-served basis**, it provides a valuable, flexible resource for those traveling through eastern Nebraska on U.S. Highway 30 or State Highway 15.
This is a city campground in the truest sense, integrated into the community and located across the street from a **nice day use park**. Its setting, with some **wooded areas** and grass sites, provides a pleasant, somewhat tranquil environment despite its proximity to the main thoroughfare. The sites are known for being reasonably sized, accommodating a range of RVs and tents.
The key draw of the Schuyler Campground is its practical setup and comprehensive services at attractive municipal rates. Unlike more remote parks, the ease of access to the city's infrastructure is a huge benefit. Guests appreciate the reliable utilities, noting the **convenient water at almost every spot** and the provision of **good clean power** at the electric-only sites. However, as is common with many city-run facilities, some amenities are more basic; one review mentioned the bathrooms being **par to below average** and the showers being **coin operated**. For the seasoned RV traveler who prioritizes hookups, security (with frequent **Police dept patrols**), and location, these small trade-offs are easily accepted given the value.
With **over 40 available camping sites** ranging from tent spots to full hookups, the campground caters to nearly all traveler types. While finding a map or clear layout upon arrival can sometimes be a challenge—a common complaint at some first-come, first-served parks—the general availability of spots and the helpful payment system (with **payment envelopes** located by the restroom building) streamline the check-in process. The overall experience is one of quiet efficiency, providing a restful spot where road noise is minimal and the nearby train traffic is distant enough to not be disruptive.

A nice city campground. Convenient to have water at almost every spot. Bathrooms are par to below average. Showers are coin operated, but didn't use them. Quiet spot close to the road and trains are a mile away. Payment envelopes are on the side of the bathrooms towards the highway. Couldn't find a map or layout, so used what seemed obvious for a camping spot.
Arrived after dark. Only needed electric. Those spots were difficult to see where to park but doable. Good clean power. Strange place to put the pay box. It’s on the highway side of the restroom building. Very quiet place. Neighbors were quiet, hardly any road noise. Woke up and went outside to notice I was under a huge branch with the other half of the tree gone from a storm (?). So don’t park in # 16 as it might not be a good spot if the winds were strong. Hopefully they take that down.
Nice campground but nobody knows how to open the bathroom on time!!! It says 7am to 10pm… Well it was 7:19 I went to go potty and of course it wasn’t open!!! So then I had to wake up my husband and ask him what time it was it was 7:20!! And I had to walk across the street to the park bathroom. And when I got back they still didn’t open the bathroom!! Not everyone has a camper so they can use that we have a tent can’t pee outside of the suns up.. anyway rant over.. park across the street is sooo beautiful also!!
Nice inexpensive Campground with showers!
Super little place to get away.
