Customer Reviews
Very nice. Two toilet buildings. Many campsites. Nice trail to the wilderness. Many streams. Saw chipmunks and turkeys. Many reviews I read were discouraging. Maybe they didn't want people visiting the place. The toilets were a little messy on the floor. But plenty of toilet paper. Not stinky. Cattle are free range in the area.
We had a great time. Very primitive campground. There are several additional campsites up the road past the main campground. We went on Sunday afternoon and there were quite a few people there surprisingly so if you are going on the weekend probably have to get there early to get a spot. The creek is a lot of fun. Extremely cold, lots of water and tributaries. Caught a couple nice brook trout on lures in some of the holes. Was hoping to explore further west past the campground area but it turns into private property unfortunately. We will go back for sure.
Great place to camp and get away from the busier sites. Bit of a drive and a little tight for bigger trailers. There is only vaulted toilets and no water. Gorgeous views of the canyon and creek. There are fish in the creek. If you need water, you can fill up at the Flying J in Snowville. 2024 Update: Just came up again and found the turn around at the end of the campground is flooded over and impossible to cross with a trailer. Don't come in unless your confident with backing a trail back up the road or not hauling a trailer.
Really enjoyed our camping trip to this area. We did not camp in the main campsites (already all taken when we arrived on Saturday morning) but we were able to find a great spot up the road, near the creek in the dispersed camping areas. So beautiful and quiet, we only saw a few people on side by sides or 4-wheelers. It was perfect!
I prefer dispersed camping where I can find it (difficult to find in CA, but like most other states west of the Mississippi, many can be found in Utah), but I'm usually prepared for dry camping when traveling. Similar to many primitive Bureau of Land Management sites across the country, though this one had an update seemingly a few decades ago. I believe it can only be accessible from the north by entering Idaho. As always: practice fire-safety knowledge, follow local condition ordinances, and obtain permits when required. Excellent chill-spot worth exploring. Be respectful (don't steal other people's engraved flasks, drink the whiskey if you must but return the flask please, and for Pete's sake don't litter; otherwise known as pack in/pack out), mindful (the least impact on nature you can make), and safe (fire is real). Hope you find the magic the area is offering!
