I didn't stay at the campground but stopped my boat launch area to paddle. It was very nice day. Sunny but not too hot. Water wasn't too cold. Comfy to step into water. It was private use as no one was on water!!! I had very good time to paddle almost 2 hours with my fur copilot - Jasper.
Clear lake is beautiful this year. The water is high, there is lots of wildlife, and generally a much less busier lake compared to other lakes on Mt.Hood. I kayaked, hiked around, and watched the sunset. Great for dogs, good place for kids to hike around, and there is a view of Mt.Hood if you hike to the other side of the lake or you kayak across.
Beautiful and well kept campground! I could view the lake from my tent, so that was lovely! The sites are pretty large as well.
We love this campground. The camp host was kind and easy to talk to. We had a gorgeous spot that felt very private. Plenty of trails to explore. Multiple pit toilets (and a few outhouses). Large dumpsters to utilize. Two adults, two young kids, a huge dog, and a rooftop tent. Make sure to bring lots of small bills to have exact change for the stay. Differing amounts in the primitive side versus the campground. We stayed primitive (for added space). The rates shown in pictures are from the campground side (primitive was a few dollars cheaper). Our visit was on July 21st, 2021.
Absolutely gorgeous place to come dip your toes in the water, hop on your kayak and paddle around, or drop your rod in and catch some fish! Clean area, super crystal clear water, the bugs a week ago weren't bad at all minus a few dragon flies and may flies. There are tons of dispersed camping all around the lake. It's probably a good idea to have a suv or 4x4 to hit the dispersed sites around the lake, though, as it's a very potholed out road. You can drive right up to the water! Not crowded any of the times I've been!
Do not follow Google maps to get here. It took me on a road that was more potholes than pavement. Dented my bumper on one rather deep one. The campground was further down the road. Honestly the lake is also pretty lame. Especially with Trillium and Timothy on either side.
Campground and day use with pit toilets, trash bins and water. Roads were rough. Campsites had tables and fire rings. Self pay station had fee receptacle, but no envelopes or pay amounts posted. A display further in had fees of $10 day use and $20 camping hand written onto official signs. No envelopes or receptacle here. No indication of what passes are accepted. Some people were camping, but don't know how they paid. Day use has boat launch. Fishing in the lake. Leashed dogs are allowed.
