Let me start off with saying I've been camping here for years , since my son was 7 yrs old, and because it was it was my favorite campground, but years ago it was very well kept , the sites were cleaned minutes after people left the bathrooms were spotless , even the bear boxes eere blown out with a leaf blower and firepits were cleaned out and raked . The management was also great back then , but now , the male "camp host" that's there now seems to have some issues with people and not fixing or cleaning bathhouses, they're filthy , broken toilet seats covered in crap and broken stall latches hanging on by one lose screw that I tightened with a key, the walls and floors are filthy and reak of urine , they haven't been touched by bleach Ina long . Last year the same camp host guy , saw me walk by his camper on the second loop , I waved , he was sitting talking to another man and he just looked at me and I kept walking , he hops on his cart and comes up next to me and asks me if Im staying there ,says they have people sneaking in , and asks who I'm staying with , what I'm driving, I was 53 last year camping solo ,I was pissed but I just blew it off. This year I brought my son ,now 20 on our last camping trip before he leaves for the Army, my son was sitting on my $1400 kayak that I trailered in and the camp host saw us as we were unloading in out site, so he goes up to my son while he's by himself and asks if he stole someone's firewood and asks him what site he was in . I don't know what the guy's problem is but they need to get someone else in there, he has issues , we left early because we went there to relax and that was ruined because he pissed me off , my son said he didn't care but there's was no reason to hassle him or myself before. I'll probably find another campground if you don't want to pay too much for campsites and firewood and you don't want to smell urine and get hassled by that guy.

Clearwater Lake State Park was very nice. Lots of hiking trails, bike trails and a small private beach . Kayak and Canoe rentals. Ice and firewood available at guard gate for sale. The camp hosts are amazing people. Always present and very commentating, super nice. The campsites seem to all be pretty level and spaced apart from neighbors. Fire rings and grills and picnic tables at each site. Heavily shaded, my husband had to play with the solar panels throughout the day. Weekends very busy. But, I would definitely recommend this State Park.

Very pretty clean lake . That’s all I can say that’s good . Ant mounds every 12 inches at campsite. Could not put a tent down or you would be in a fire ant mound. The pavement that’s at each campsite was infested with small ticks . I had swept the pavement, thinking you can put a tent down there. The second I put the tent down. There was 30 ticks crawling all over it. . Took me the entire day to get rid of all the ticks on the tent and a few must have traveled into the vehicle. They were crawling on me So gross. I literally spent the day taking every single thing out of my vehicle and making sure that there was nothing else in it . I have left I cannot possibly stay there . Bathrooms if they clean them, would’ve been great they are filthy . They just need a really really good cleaning. They’re not in bad shape. Beach area has got tons and tons of ant hills Do not put anything down on the ground only put things on the metal table and shake the stuff before you leave . It was absolutely beautiful lake but I will never go back again . When I tried to leave at about 9 o’clock, the gate number that I was given did not work or at least not at first the lock itself is just an old padlock and it’s very difficult to dark to try to see these numbers because they are pretty worn down. Needless to say, I had to call the Ranger to figure out how the lock worked because no matter what I did, I was unsuccessful . He was extraordinarily rude and and said Did you push it up !!!! and pull it down!!!! We used it. It’s fine. I said, as a matter of fact, I did still didn’t work . He said he would be back in around 10 minutes . I’m not sure if all national parks are set up in such a manner But I found this to be extremely dangerous that I could not leave. I’m standing in the middle of the forest in the dark trying to deal with a lock . There was literally no way to get my vehicle out of the forest had there been an emergency or a not safe situation? It could’ve turned out very badly . Yes, I would’ve called 911 But in a dangerous situation, 911 takes too long . I rather lose three days and the money then deal with that . I have a table there. I will go back in the morning and grab as it was pitch dark out and could not, and did not want to put anything into my vehicle to carry more ticks into it. . It’s a shame it’s a beautiful lake . Ranger’s wife was lovely And a pleasure to deal with .
