As of winter 2024/2025, this has been converted back to an overnight camp at Okefenokee. It sits in a beautiful, quiet and narrow section of the Orange Trail/Suwannee Canal. It's an easy 5.7 mile paddle from the Suwannee Canal Recreation Area. Because of its location a midway point to Canal Run, Round Top and Floyds Island, if you're camping here, you might have other paddlers stop here for a break and to use the pit toilet. This is perfectly fine.

Nice shelter with picnic table and clean toilet (with hand sanitizer) about half way to Canal Run and Round Top Platforms. Reasonable landing areas. Turned out to be a good meeting place to chat with fellow paddlers, a special treat while social distancing. Take your own toilet tissue just in case.
