What very nice place to get away from everything. Very clean bathrooms with showers and hot water. Brian the campground resident was awesome. Very wonderful guy. Full of great information about the surrounding areas. The panning was great found some gold in the first pan. I am looking forward to the next visit to see what I can get the next time we visit. I give it a good thumbs up.
What a place!! We love it here, first timers and we will be back!! Had some trouble with my toolbox and Brian, the host, was most helpful, he had every tool. Fixed me up and send me on my way. Scenery was beautiful Bathrooms clean!!! Easy to find and get too.
We went panning for gold at Coker Creek. It was such a positive experience. Brian, the camp host, is very knowledgeable about the history of the area with the gold rush of 1831, actually mining gold, and he was extremely helpful teaching us how to pan. He made sure we were able to take home the gold we found. I highly recommend this place for the experience. Warning… it’s not easy work. They have all the equipment so there’s no need to buy anything for panning the gold.
We had a great time! My husband just recently got interested in gold prospecting, so we definitely had no idea how to get started. Brian showed us some tips and tricks and even helped us gather some gold. He had a great sense of humor and kept everyone laughing and having a good time! He even found a babydoll head in the creek and had us all laughing! Denise showed amazing hospitality. Willow, the sweet husky, was such a lover and very friendly! It was an overall positive experience, and we can’t wait to go back! Maybe with more planning next time, haha! Oh and because I know this is a big deal as well… the bathroom was INCREDIBLY clean and nice!
I was in the area for work recently and found Bryon through the nice ladies at the welcome center. I was off on Fridays and went every week just about with some interesting finds! Cold or not being by myself Bryon would get out there with me and get wet for a while. He's super knowledgeable and just great company! Will definitely stop back by next time I'm in the area hopefully have my little one with me next time!
Visiting from Florida and was looking for something different to do! This place is so nice. From the workers to the people camping. It wasn’t busy when we went which is always nice! We also brought our 2 dogs and they had a great time. We found lots of tiny specs of gold and the workers were more than happy to help show us their ways. We will definitely be back!
Stopped by for a night on the way through heading North. Great rustic, but new, campground. The staff is incredibly friendly and wants to show off and teach about gold panning. Great family and friend activity for a weekend or several day trip.
We were visiting Chattanooga, Tennessee from Las Vegas, NV and had to find a place to go gold panning. The Coker Creek post office provided us information for this gold camp, and we were not disappointed. Coker Creek Gold Camp is a great spot for both beginner and seasoned gold panners. The camp is nestled in a peaceful, scenic area of the Cherokee National Forest. Bryon, the host, is incredibly helpful—he set us up with everything we needed and stayed with us until we found our first fleck of gold! He genuinely wants you to enjoy your experience. The gold panning is fun and relaxing, with a real chance of finding flakes in the creek. Campground facilities are very clean and include full-hookup RV sites and hot showers. We did not have any phone signal, but there is Wi-Fi available if needed. The area is quiet and surrounded by beautiful nature, perfect for hiking or just unwinding. We left with a few bits of gold and a lot of great memories—highly recommended!
I had a great time panning and sluicing on the creek. Had gold in every pan! Bryon was extremely helpful and got me right on the gold. He has a wealth of knowledge of the coker creek gold mining history and was able to answer all the questions I threw at him. I only had one day to spend there but would love to come back for a longer stay. Five stars!
