This was the perfect weekend getaway! I attended the extension weekend with my 8-year-old daughter and we had an absolute blast. The grounds were gorgeous and the cabins were well-maintained and oh-so-cute. All of the amenities were truly top-notch. We enjoyed all of the guided excursions and left the camp feeling truly renewed. Even though there were few kids at the camp, my daughter loved hiking, sleeping in a cabin, stargazing, making s'mores by the fire pit, and exploring the property of Cold River Camp on one of their free-to-borrow bikes. The whole place was spotless with great bathroom facilities. Every meal was delicious and my daughter keeps begging me to recreate their zucchini muffins, which really hit the spot. Thanks for such a wonderful experience.

Heard about this from another family when staying at Gorman Chairback last summer and recently stayed 7/14-7/20 and was definitely not disappointed. If you are looking for a place to disconnect, stay in a rustic cabin, swim in a river and swimming holes, participate in camp activities such as hikes and talent shows, and travel back in time to a life without screens and surrounded by the White Mountains this is for you. Definitely a family camp experience I plan on adding to our annual summer calendar. Everyone at the camp, from trip leaders to the Croo were very welcoming. There were activities every day and my kids had a blast running around camp with the other kids that were there.

Beautiful place to spend a week or a half week enjoying the mountains and forests of Evan's Notch with friends and family. This is a full service camp with rustic cabins that can be rented out for either a week or a half week. They serve two delicious hot meals at breakfast and dinner, and provide sandwiches for lunch to take out on hikes. There are guided trips every day for a range of difficulties, but you are also encouraged to find your own hikes if that's what you want to do. Every night there is optional entertainment too - dancing, naturalist talks, a talent show and more. Full bathrooms with showers and hot water are cleaned daily and are consistently immaculate. And I certainly cannot leave out the community of people who go here, work here and volunteer here. It is one of the most welcoming and friendly places I have ever been. I've been a coming here for years since I was kid, worked my college summers here, and now I come back and volunteer to help the camp from time to time, always getting to see the other friendly faces that have also come to think of Cold River like a second home. 5 stars, would definitely recommend.

I haven't stayed here, but I have hiked here for years. The little metal bridge across the dam was taken out and chained up by Cold River Camp, so the kids couldn't go on the Deer Hill hike. Apparently, the (public) National Forest is only for paying AMC customers. Another reason to keep AMC from making any more development/camps in the Whites.

The week our family spends at Cold River Camp is unequivocally the best week of our year. And that holds true for Mom, Dad, and two teenagers (14 and 19). We have been coming here as a family since 2011, and all of us are so psyched to return each summer, we start screaming for joy as we drive down the entry road!
