Loved this campground! I snagged a first come first serve spot on a Thursday night and camped for 2 nights. I would absolutely come back again. It was developed but really well done with trees between each campground so you felt like you had privacy. I was in a spot right next to the bathroom and it still was gorgeous! My site was #20 right by the river and it was very peaceful and spacious. The camp host was also super friendly and welcoming. Also super convenient to Cottonwood Pass + Buena Vista. The only minus would be lack of clean water but otherwise a great stay. I'd definitely come back.
Site 26. Nestled into an aspen grove this site has limited space for tents, but makes up for that with shade from the trees and a nice crackling of aspen leaves every time the wind blows. The creek in the distance is a nice white noise to help drown out cottonwood pass with an occasional loud vehicle. Fire pit is on a hill and isn’t very easy to sit or stand around if your group is bigger than 2-3. The landscaping around the fire could have used some attention. At site 26 I’ll be picking a different spot next time we visit. Definitely coming back though. Host was friendly and the bathrooms were some of the cleanest vault toilets I’ve ever used.
What an amazing place to camp. This is a little off the beaten path and you don’t have shower facilities hookup. But if you’re looking to tent or car camp you’ll be hard pressed to find a better spot. The facilities that are there are well kept, the toilets don’t smell or attract bugs etc. Do note there are moose in the area and we had a close encounter with one, so pay attention.
Awesome campground! Have camped here many times, most recently August of 2024. The hosts are very friendly and keep the bathrooms clean and smelling great.
Beautiful, aspen-filled campground. Friendly and helpful campground host too! Basically across the street from the Mt. Yale trailhead.
