My friends and I camped at the Colorado Bend State park and we had a blast! The area was beautiful and well taken care of. The bathrooms were stocked and somewhat clean. The trails were beautiful and good taking care of. This is a great place to bring 10+ friends. We camped for three days and two nights and enjoy every single day, the officers around the area we’re nice and came to check on us and help us out with our trash. I will 100% recommend come in here if you’re thinking about having a camping trip with your friends.
Totally worth going back. We took our dogs and had a relaxed 6 mile hike. The “moderate” terrain means to me do not show up injured, wear sturdy shoes for the rocky trails, and i’ll roll an ankle if not paying attention. The falls are popular and worth the short detour to see. The place has some trails where bikes are prohibited, but from our experience the places where we can ride are worth a return trip. We had a good time and the hour and a half drive for us was worth it.
Colorado Bend is a larger, beautiful state park. There are a lot of variety in the types of trails available to hike. You can walk by the Colorado River, with a lot of trees and shade. You can walk through rocky areas. The waterfall is a must see. And the spring where you can swim is fun too. A must-see for Texas State Park fans.
Was recommended by a co-worker, and it was a fun and relaxing trail! I started at the Park HQ and took the Colorado River Trail all the way up to Gorman Falls. From there, I hiked the same way and took the Cedar Chopper Loop. Pretty cool views and picture opportunity. They also have camping areas on site for nature Lovers.
Stunningly beautiful and remote. Only complaint was the roads are incredibly narrow, so be careful, and the bathrooms weren’t the best. Aside from that the nature was gorgeous. Bring cash/check as that is the only thing the shop takes. We did not camp we just visited for the day and drove from Austin. Highly recommend checking it out!
