We really enjoy camping at Colt Creek State Park Campground. We've stayed at both sites 11 and 25. It's a quiet, small campground with level, clean sites. Some sites have a bit more privacy than others. If you'd like to see a video tour of the campground visit Youtube @MapleCamps, where we posted a video tour of each campsite. Colt Creek has quite a few walking, cycling and equestrial trails throughout the park. We even saw some goats out for a stroll with their owners! About two years ago they had canoes and kayaks for rent at the pond, but this year they had neither boat rentals, nor even firewood for sale. Aparently they were under new management, so call ahead if you were planning to buy/rent any of these items. Winter at Colt Creek is very pleasant, mid summer would be very hot, as most sites have very little tall tree shade, so plan accordingly. The campsites are well maintained gravel sites, with picnic benches, firepits and grills. Several of the sites have a bit of grassy area which is convenient for playing corn hole, skittle skattle or other games that benefit from some open space. We bring our bikes and bike the park road and some of the trails. We spotted some deer in the afternoon and evenings. The sky is dark and good for stargazing at night.
Really nice campground and tent camping sites. Very clean bathrooms and quiet. Disappointed that there was no playground, and they don't sell firewood.
Beautiful park. Huge. Only drawback is extremely little coverage. So in those summer months, your air conditioning is going to struggle to keep up. That's why I gave it 4 stars. They took out too many trees when building the campsites.
Stayed here a week ago today for the weekend. We tried out their glamping. Everything was great except the fact that quiet hours was early. One paper said 10pm and another paper said 11pm. It’s a weekend, I agree with the 11pm piece of paper. It was already lights out around 9:30. I still would return because of nature and it was peaceful.
We love this state park. Opportunities for great RV camping, biking and wildlife viewing. Always a chance to see good looking gators in the lakes. Park Rangers are super nice. The views along the road are spectacular. We love camping here.
