Great little campground. Men’s and women’s bathrooms, showers, a small dining hall building with commercial kitchen, and picnic tables scattered throughout. Adequate hot water in showers. Two additional porta-potties outside bathrooms. Tons of airplane parking (gravel/ broken asphalt taxiway to camping area). Short walk from plane to camping area. Picnics tables scattered around (some are very old/ deteriorating, in need of new nails or refurbishment). We didn’t have any issues with ants, another couple did; be careful where you set up your tent. This campground is walking distance to several good restaurants, including Mandy’s, Bella Union, Waterwheel Pizza Parlor, and Columbia Frosty, El Jardin Mexican, Kate’s Teahouse, and Kate’s Bakery, among others. NOTE: there’s poison oak along many of the walking trails around the airport/ trails into town. Staying on the main roads is advised, unless you know what poison oak looks like, and can avoid it. Hopefully they can weed-wack some of the trails better, and clear them out, so they’re more suitable for hikers and tourists.
I flew in - there is a place to park along the sketchy gravel taxiway. Bring chocks! Next time I go, I may even taxi on the grass runway to avoid that taxiway. The campground is surprisingly featureful - decent bathrooms with showers, RV hookups, and even a few disc golf holes. And good shade/trees for lounging in a hammock. Bring earplugs. Obviously there will be plane noise during daylight, but what I wasn't counting on was a nearby bunch of dogs yapping incessantly all night.
Great spot, lots of camping has been done here over the years.
