Stretched out and relatively private feeling even when you're out in the open without any trees around. Camping in a tent was comfortable although the noise of trailers using generators is a little annoying. Site 47 was flat and close to the creek. Camp host was super helpful. Firewood is a little pricey but it always is. Hard to get cheaper local wood ahead of time. But $9 for a small pile with no kindling that only lasts a couple hours is hard to swallow for me. Kind of annoying to drive in and out as the campground is so long. The area is the best though. The lake. The horse rides. The boats. The hikes. The eagles. It's magical
We arrived in the afternoon and our site was easy to find. It was a beautiful campsite backed up to a meadow. Plus, an amazing background of the mountains. It was a short walk to the lake. The sites were spread out far enough that you had privacy. There was a tent pad that made it easy to anchor the tent. There was also a bear box, fireplace, and picnic table. Bathrooms had sinks, flushing toilets, and lights. And they were so clean!!! I would absolutely stay here again.
I loved this camp ground! We stayed at campsite 6. It was located close to a bathroom which was very clean, and offers a beautiful backdrop in all directions. You are a little close (25yd) to other campers so be respectful about being too loud. I stayed here in late June, the weather was about 75-80 during the day and about 55 at night. My kids (6yo, 12,yo) enjoyed it. I generally car camp so me and my son stayed in my car and my wife and daughter stayed in the tent. The site is elevated off the road way by about 4ft and has a large area. It has a table, bear box, fire pit and plenty of room for a large tent (we used and 8x8). At sunset we decided to walk the campground. The campground loops around at the end and was a beautiful walk. My son brought his RC truck and loved driving it over the speed bumps and in the brush. Near the end of the trail you can hear the river flowing off Lake Convict and there is a bridge you can check out that crosses it. Multiple times we saw dear roaming the sites too. I had limited cell signal at the site so if you have little ones bring other forms of entertainment like toys or DVD players. During the day we rented a boat and hangout on the lake. We fished and relaxed. If you need food, drinks, wood, fishing gear, or souvenirs there is a shop about a 5 minute walk from the marina that offers all of this. They have a little bit of everything and really have some cool shirts that show off convict lake. Overall, LOVED THIS TRIP AND WILL BE COMING BACK!
Nice campground at the end of October. No shade so might be too hot during warmer months. We stayed one night in our RV. Views of the mountains and lake with the fall colors were beautiful. Sites were well spaced. Bathrooms were clean and had flush toilets. We’d stay here again when passing through this part of the country.
This is a very nice Campground within a walking distance to beautiful convict lake. Numerous sites are well spaced so you're not right on top of your neighbor, some sites very close to the stream that runs through the campground. The campground store is well stocked with food and tourist items and the prices are reasonable. Of course there is the restaurant and other more casual dining options to choose from. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. With actual flush toilets and sinks. You can either Reserve or take your chances on first come first to served but they're always seem to be sites available.
