Enjoyed hiking the dunes, especially with snow. Different. Very pretty place I decided to hit on my way from Zion to Page. Small fee but absolutely worth it to me. Recommended.
Lovely place. We stopped for a short time, which is enough if you don't do any activities like sand boarding or riding quad. The rent for activities is available in the park. I liked that you could walk barefoot there and then wash your feet at the parking lot.
So glad we added this park to our itinerary and camped here for the night. We rented a UTV for a sunset tour and it was worth it! It was so fun following our tour guide who took us to cool trails, to take photos and do sandboarding! Nice hot showers BTW!
Dunes look pretty nice, even though they are not big. Many people take boards to slide from the dune top, but it’s not as fun as they expect. The parking is pretty small. Parking rangers don’t count free slots, so you can come and find out that there is no free spots. If you have never seen dunes, it’s worth checking out. But if you seen something like Great Sands in Colorado or White Sands in New Mexico, then it won’t be too impressive.
We left Kanab before sunrise and stopped at Nomad Cafe for a delicious coffee. From there, you have two different ways to get there and we took the turn off at West Fork Three Lakes Canyon (Hancock Road). It was a scenic route with some scatter camp sites and a ton of deer. The sunrise photo was spectacular. and it was beautiful. As for the park, it was fun walking on the sand dunes and it was easy to get in and out of there. We will be back to do the atv tours in the future.
