Crazy Blair which spot in the middle of nowhere! The trees getting against each other and squeal through the night then blow in the wind and clack against one another. Such a bad vibe but such a great find! You're gonna love it!
Wow, what a little gem this "free" campground is. It's about 65 miles south of Bend, OR. There are only 6 camping spots available & they are on a 1st come 1st serve basis. There are 2 pit toilets that are located on a slight hill to the right side of the entrance road where you come in. - We tent camped here & it was very very quiet. Out of the 6 camp spots there is one longer one. There was a couple staying in this one. They had a 30' pull behind trailer in the only spot big enough. They had a generator but they we're very courteous about only running it for roughly an hour in the evening & morning (probably for cooking meals). Other than when that was running, it was very nice & quiet. Lots & lots of birds & a few squirrels. Really nice find & would definitely stay here again. 2 thumbs up 👍👍
great little hidden gem. Tiny little stream in the middle supplies the area with mosquitos. crazy amounts of them. but the sites are free (first come first serve) and their are toilets (bring your own paper just in case). fire rings and tables are also provided. 5 maybe 6 spots in total.
Great free campground in Central Oregon - easy to find, quiet. Didn't use the pit toilet, so I can't speak to that. Site was pretty level. Has picnic table and fire ring. I was the only one there on a Sunday night.
This was my first experience with a free campground, and this spot was a fantastic place to start. The turnoff from the hwy can be a little hard to spot, but Google maps was very accurate and helpful in finding it. Just a couple miles (literally, at mile marker 2) down a dirt road, and the welcome sign showed us right where to turn. We were the only ones there just before sundown on a weeknight, but got neighbors late in the evening. It was so quiet and peaceful. We saw lots of birds and butterflies, and even a couple bold chipmunks (keep your trash packed away - one of them tried to sneak into our little trash bag while we were standing 20 feet away watching!). The pit toilet must've just been serviced before we got there, because it was one of the cleanest I've ever seen. Overall, a great experience! I would definitely camp here again!
