Cottonwood Campground is often praised for its clean and well-maintained campsites and facilities, a testament to the dedication of its hosts and staff. While it caters to a more compact camping style, with a recommendation for rigs around 25ft or less, its appeal lies in its peaceful atmosphere and direct access to the river. Cottonwood Campground - Naches RD is located in the beautiful region of Naches, WA 98937, USA. More precisely, it sits alongside the Naches River, just off Highway 410, near milepost 99. This strategic placement puts it squarely within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, a vast and diverse natural landscape on the eastern slopes of Washington's Cascade Mountains.
For Washington residents, reaching Cottonwood Campground is a scenic and manageable journey. From the Puget Sound area, travelers typically head east over one of the Cascade mountain passes (like Snoqualmie or White Pass), enjoying picturesque views along the way. From Eastern Washington, it’s a direct drive west towards Naches and then onto Highway 410. The campground's location directly off a state highway ensures relatively easy access for vehicles, though those with larger RVs should note the recommended maximum length of around 25ft for the back-in spaces. The serene environment, coupled with its convenient accessibility, makes it a popular choice for locals seeking a genuine escape into the forest.
Cottonwood Campground – Naches RD provides a focused set of services designed to offer a comfortable and functional camping experience:
Campsites: The campground features 16 individual campsites and 1 group site. Sites are generally "small back in spaces," with a recommended maximum rig length of around 25ft, though specific sites can accommodate slightly larger RVs up to about 39-44 feet. Each site includes a picnic table and a fire pit with a grill, perfect for outdoor cooking and gatherings.
River Access: Many sites offer direct or very close access to the Naches River, allowing campers to easily reach the water for wading, fishing, or simply enjoying the view.
Vault Toilets: Clean and well-stocked vault toilets are available year-round within the campground. Reviewers consistently praise their cleanliness, which is a significant amenity for a more rustic forest service campground.
Potable Drinking Water: Potable water is available seasonally, typically from May through October 1st. Campers should verify availability, especially early or late in the season, as water may not always be available.
No Electric Hookups: It's important to note that Cottonwood Campground does not offer electrical hookups at any of its campsites. Campers requiring power should plan for alternative sources like generators (with restricted hours from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and requiring a muffler).
No Dump Station: The campground does not have a dump station on-site. Campers needing to empty their tanks will need to find commercial dump stations in nearby towns like Medora (approximately 5.5 miles away) or other facilities outside the park.
Camp Host: A camp host is typically present (e.g., noted in space 5), providing a helpful point of contact for campers and assisting with the maintenance of the grounds.
Trash/Recycling Collection: Trash and recycling services are available year-round, contributing to the overall cleanliness of the campground.
Pet-Friendly: Pets are generally welcome in the campground, provided they are kept on a leash and owners adhere to park regulations.

Small and Intimate Atmosphere: Described as a "small campground," Cottonwood offers a more intimate and less crowded experience compared to larger facilities. This fosters a sense of tranquility and a closer connection with nature.
Clean and Well-Maintained: Despite being a rustic forest service campground, reviewers consistently highlight the cleanliness of both the campsites and the vault toilets. This dedication to upkeep significantly enhances the camping experience.
Privacy Between Sites: While sites are described as "small back in spaces," the natural vegetation often provides a good amount of privacy between individual campsites, allowing for a more secluded feel.

Such a great campground & it’s next to a large river with trails leading to it! There are picnic tables & fire pits. Take the family or friends & go enjoy. I also found a bunch of painted rocks! That is so awesome of people to paint beautiful pictures & display them with Mother Earth for people to enjoy. Love it!
Great small campground. Small back in spaces. The biggest rig you can get in here is about 25ft. Not all sites have river access. Host is in space 5. Bathrooms are always clean and stocked. Campsites are clean.
Such a beautiful drive! Can’t wait to come back. Went with a group of friends and kids. The sites were small and somehow managed to fit 3 cars and 3 tents! We were in site 12 which had access to the river. The river was calm but too fast for the younger kids to play in. The camp site has a picnic table and a fire pit. There is a water pump to fill your water jugs but not meant for drinking. This campground is great for a small family or small groups of friends. We didn’t have any issues with lights or street noises. Very relaxing and cozy. Can’t wait to come back!
Nice little campground most of them have a view and access to the river but the closer you’re the river the more mosquitoes you’ll have which is a small price for the gorgeous views of the Naches river. The sites are very private and clean.
Wonderful campground, very private sites. Plenty of shade. River access. Dog friendly. ZERO complaints!
