We stayed in one of the Sister Cabins over the weekend. It was an extremely clean, comfortable, spacious cabin. Campground seemed very well taken care of. Shirley was very friendly, and helpful. Fire pit was nice also, with wood to purchase on site. Cabin was decorated for Halloween, which I thought was a nice touch. Easy access to the DEST, the Balsam Tip land, the Blueberry Barrens etc. Kitchen area had a full size refrigerator, 2 burner hot plate, coffee maker, microwave, toaster, pots & pans, dishes, utensils etc. Definitely plan to go back, and stay longer next time.
Shirley is by far the best campground owner we have ever experienced of all the campgrounds we have visited. We have visited campgrounds from Georgia to Maine. Dan is also a great host. The campground is always so clean and organized. As everyone has already stated, the bathroom/bathhouse is always immaculately clean. The quietness of the campground is so visceral and tranquil, perfect for relaxing. The campground also connects directly to the trails when you want to have some ATV/UTV fun. We have made Cottonwood Campground our annual place to visit out of the six camping trips we take annually. We have been camping here since 2019. See you next year, Shirley. Thanks for always being so welcoming and accommodating. Site details: We camped at site number two for this visit. It was a large pull-through site with a platform, which was great for an outdoor movie screen. Our rig is fifty-two feet long, and the site accommodated our setup with room to spare. The campground had enough room for maneuverability for large rigs. The bathroom and bathhouse were less than one hundred feet from this site, which was very convenient if you needed access to them.
We love the campground. Very peaceful ,love the lot that we get every time. The owners are very nice and helpful. I recommend this to anyone. It was great to walk my dog and go riding . Close proximity to restaurants and stores. A must try this place.
If I could give this place more stars, I would! Shirley and Dan were fantastic hosts, their hospitality was unmatched. Super friendly and helpful people, and you can tell Shirley really loves her campground that she designed and built. There is no main office, no camp store for last minute essentials that you may have forgotten so keep that in mind, but there is a country store about an 1/8th mile from their entrance. Very convenient. Cottonwood sells firewood by the bundle on the honor system. Their bathrooms and showers were the cleanest that I have ever experienced in any campground. My 11 year old daughter called them fancy haha, they were beautiful and clean. They rent side by side ATVs right at the campground and there is trail access on site. We rented their 4 seater for a full day and went over 140 miles and saw some incredible sights. Highly recommend doing this if you don't own one. This isn't your KOA style campground with pools, playscapes and arcades, this is a quiet, secluded and private campground, which is exactly what we were looking for. If that is what you are looking for, don't look anywhere else, just book this place! I spent a few months researching places like this in the area and this was the best I found for secluded camping. A little over an hour to acadia and very close to some awesome state parks. Stay here, you won't have any regrets!! We will be yearly regulars here coming from CT
Direct access to miles of atv trails. Large rv sites most with full hookups. Shirley the owner is the best. Very accommodating. We stay here 2-3 times a season. Highly recommended!
