What a cool place. The lake is spectacular and the sites are really nice.
The best place to camp in the okc area. Very clean, well kept flora, and the staff is really friendly. Not to mention it's the only lake in the area where you can actually have a little visibility in the water. Don't use the honor box for ice. It's not for that apparently.
I needed to check in at Edmond OU Hospital at 5:30am. As we live 3 hours away, we made the choice to stay at Lake Arcadia. It was a great choice! The sunset was gorgeous, the park was quiet, the bathrooms were clean and warm and we had a terrific night.
First off, bathrooms. Clean, heated & well lit. Secondly its beautiful out here!
The gate guards are just fabulous. They are very knowledgeable and know how to treat a customer right. One of the gate guards, Sheila, could be a local guide. She knows the area very well. She can tell you anything about where to fish to where to have a great meal.
Its not a bad place to stay, but if you're looking to use the showers I wouldn't recommend it. The showers are boiling, to the point where you can't stand under the water. You have to teacup water onto yourself. This is coming from someone who regularly takes hot showers to the point where my skin is red and irritated. If you get soap in your eyes you're doomed, or if you have cuts they burn. Beware of the showers. Lots of spiders too. The upside is, usually no one comes into the showers. If you're staying a 2 week period, you might have one or two people come in and use the bathroom. I do like how there's a sliding curtain. (I also think there's a condom on the ceiling?) (Always be sure to wear flip flops/sandals whenever you're using the public showers. Better safe than sorry.)
