Pretty basic campground with pit toilets. Very close together sites, if you're in a tent you're going to get lights shined on you by other campers, (thanks diesel truck for shining your light into our tent the majority of the night). A good place if you plan on going to the hot springs. Good for big groups and car/van campers.
I really love this little campground. It's really a shame that so many people leave their trash everywhere. It really irks me how little respect people have for our public spaces. I took a little time to clean up the plastic bits I found everywhere. But otherwise this spot has fantastic views and is a short trip away from one of the coolest hot springs I have ever been to. I highly recommend people use this campground as a central spot to explore the area. The whole reservoir is a fantastic sight to behold.
Not a bad camping spot, a bit exposed, only a few spots, but good for the off-season when all the other Cougar Reservoir campgrounds are closed.
This is a very nice campground. There are 12 sites here, each with a picnic bench and fire pit. Most of the sites have room for multiple tents. It is in a beautiful location as well. Loved my stay here and will be returning in the future. I should note that the road leading to the campground is in very poor condition with many large potholes and long stretches of muddy and slick areas. I recommend a vehicle with high ground clearance.
This is a decent all year round campground. Some sites are a bit close together so not much privacy unless you get there early and snag a prime site. River flowing past can be a bit loud in the winter. 7 min drive to Terwilliger Hot Springs, so that's pretty handy.
It’s a great spot if you just want to be out in nature. I gave it 4 stars because my buddies and I booked two sites & we left all day to go explore the area and when we came back one of our sites were rented by other people. I was told it was because we didn’t leave anything behind so we looked like we left for good. I’d recommend leaving a tent or some belonging behind so that doesn’t happen to you too. I ended up getting my money back & some free wood, luckily we could all fit on to one site so it was ok in the end but still sucked. Pros: Right off the river, 2 miles from Hot Springs & beautiful hiking/running trails. Cons: No showers & close proximity to other camp sites.
This is a great little spot to stay near the hot springs. There were some pretty large puddles from the rain and uneven roads throughout the campsite but it was easy to find. The campgrounds are small and the sites are very close together. Early February the campground was very empty so these things didn't bother me. The site is managed by a company and not the forest service (same as the hot springs) so be prepared to pay in cash and drop the money in an envelope. They do accept the Pass discounts just like any other national forest campground would!
