Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Portage, IN

This is the second visit that was a waste of my money. I called prior to my visit to ask if the hot tub was working as the last time I visited I was told it was and the day of check in, it wasn’t working causing me to check out and leave. I was told at check in when I asked if the hot tub was working. I was told around check in, they decided to drain the hot tub and refill it but that it should be good to go. When paying 120+ a night for a hotel, I expect hospitality which Country Inn and Suites claims to be. When customers check in at 3pm, especially those with birthday parties planned or small children, we expect to be able to optimize our time. When going to the pool from 3p-5p, the hot tub was nowhere near hot. I was told by the front desk that they had guests in the pool until 12p and they prioritize cleanliness. I reminded them that there is 4 hours in between check out and check in, 12-3p and a hotel with amenities should be well aware of maintenance at appropriate times in order to preserve guest satisfaction. I was told by the female manager, she claimed, that “it wasn’t a big deal and I have all night”. I reminded her that she does not know everyone’s plans and those with children have spots and other events planned and check in until 6 or so and then dinner is to be expected. She then shrugged her shoulders at me and walked back into the back office. The management of this establishment needs assistance with providing a hospitable and exceptional guest stay while offering high-quality service because it is severely lacking the last few stays I’ve had leading to this review.

The room was nice. Everything worked. No one ever came to clean the room as requested. The breakfast was good. The front desk female was not inviting or pleasant.

My daughter loves the frog pool here. Breakfast had a decent selection of offerings, I was most impressed with the yogurt and all the fresh toppings. The beds were comfy & clean sheets. Walls a little thin. My only complaint would be, the walls need some deep cleaning, or a new coat of paint…and the red living room chair was stained/arms looked dirty. That part was a little icky…. But overall good stay, I’m sure we will be returning again.

Look no further. Really nice hotel, clean and big rooms. You are getting a free breakfast with the stay. Also, there is a pool for the kids they can have a really nice time here. Strongly recommend this place really nice experience.

Hotel was clean, but is desperate need of updating and remodeling. Our room had mismatched paint, peeling paint/plaster, and lots of signs of being hard worn. The beds were sub-par and when we stayed there we ended up paying over $150/night, which was way more than it should have been given the conditions. Don't believe the 4.5 star reviews. I expect this level of quality from a Motel 6 or a Laquinta for $79/night, not one for almost double the price. Won't be staying here again.
