Customer Reviews
Let’s start with the positives: AC worked well, King bed was comfortable, room was spacious, hot water was great, shower was a good size, great location. The room had active flies, both windowsills had at least 6-8 dead flies on each windowsill. Cobwebs along the ceiling in the bedroom area. Went to the front desk the next morning to ask housekeeping to come and vacuum up the dead flies and remove the cobwebs from the ceiling, they cleaned up the dead flies only. Bathroom exhaust fan had no cover (exposed light and fan. Light fixture outside the bathroom was partially hanging off the ceiling. Light fixture in bathroom over the mirror was falling apart. There were no remote controls for either TV, went back forth to the front desk 3 times to try and get at least one working remote control, to no avail, they offered to move me to another room that “might” have a working remote control, I declined this moving as it was 9:30 at night so they said “oh well, there is nothing else we can do”. Pulled out the fold out couch to make it up for the grandchildren only to find a pair of nasty dirty socks, dried up food, dried up flower petals (possibly rose petals), no linens in the room for the fold out couch, went to the front desk to get linens, they gave us the wrong sized linens, so we had to go back to the front desk again. The kitchen counter area had an exposed electric outlet, no face plate. In the hallway just one door down there was an aluminum pan that probably had food in it that sat there for the entire time that we were there (2-3 days) and I even saw housekeeping in the hallway at 9am but it was left there. Looked like our room had not been dusted in a month, layers of dust on lamp shades, desk, lights, dresser, bedside tables. The pool was incredibly cold, the grandkids could hardly stand to be in it, I thought that the pool was heated???? Day 2 went down for breakfast only to find that everything was gone except for eggs, sausage, coffee, juice, waffles. Cereal, milk, yogurt, bagels, bread, muffins all totally gone. All I wanted was a couple slices of toast, so I asked at the front desk if there was any more bread and they said, “nope we are all out”, seriously, Wal-Mart is literally around the corner about 2-minute drive, only because of a traffic light. One last thing on day 2, went to the ice machine to refill my cup for the day only to have the entire front of the machine fall completely off onto me. The soda machine next to the ice machine was out of order and the compartment where the drink comes out of was stuffed with trash. Talked to 2 other guests on day 2, one had trouble getting a working remote, she said there were no linens on the bed or even in the room and no toilet paper in the room, she had just checked in. The other guest I spoke with, as I was talking with guest #1 outside my room, Guest #2 walked past with their luggage to go to their room for the first time only to find that the room was completely untouched by housekeeping from the previous guest, trash cans full, beds totally unmade, dirty floor and more. This hotel seriously needs some maintenance and housekeeping updates. This is my second time staying here and the first time was not great either, I thought I would give it one last shot before ruling them out as a frequented hotel. We come to South Haven often as this is my husband’s hometown and we still have family there. I WILL NOT stay at the Country Inn & Suites EVER again. The best thing to do is stay somewhere else. I think I will stay at the Holiday Inn across the street next time.
Absent management, grime buildup in a litany of rooms, a pool that's been out of service for nearing a month, a g and parking lot with strobing broken lights. This hotel is severely neglected, and it shows in the staff's demeanor. Speaking of staff demeanor, this hotel is notorious for combative staff who are unable to keep information confidential. And those are residential employees. I'm frankly surprised this location is still operational with the level of disaray you can find on each floor of this lawsuit waiting to happen. Don't get me wrong, this place has promise, but a promise is only good if you keep it up.
The room was not what I would expect when paying what I paid! The tile entryway in the room and the bathroom floor were sticky, the carpet looked dirty and there were unidentifiable stains on the chair. There were wires hanging from where a smoke detector had been previously. The side doors to the building did not lock as they should, so anyone could enter without a key if they chose to do so. The breakfast was adequate, the water pressure in the shower was excellent, and the AC worked well. We didn’t interact with the front desk staff other than to check in and to get a new key when both our keys stopped working. The staff was pleasant during both of those interactions.
Checked into our jacuzzi suite, and there was no TV in the room. There was a dead bug in a spider web near the jacuzzi tub and a live crawling beetle that crawled in a hole in the wall. The bed was really uncomfortable. However, the staff was amazing and friendly and accommodating, and the Jacuzzi tub was clean and nice and relaxing. It was not the ideal spot for a first anniversary celebration, but it was okay.
The staff was super nice from start to finish and this is no reflection of them. We got a two bed queen room online and somehow got a disabled room which is okay. The room smelled kind of like mildew and looked decades older than it is. I also feel like I paid way too much for the value of this room.
