Courtyard Mt. Pleasant at Central Michigan University

This hotel is brand new! I love the lobby area as it is big and features a Starbucks, bar, and dining. The rooms were very clean and modern, and I loved the effort to be energy efficient. The A/C worked SO well. Lots of restaurants nearby. This was the nicest Courtyard I’ve stayed in We stayed here because Soaring Eagle was sold out, but will likely stay here again!

I reserved the room online, and online it said to present your giftcard at the desk. The night clerk said the manager in the morning would have to do it and put it on my card. In the morning, I was told to come back later for the manager so we waited an hour and a half. The manager said he could have done it if the card was not charged the night before, but now there was nothing he could do. Infuriating- I NEVER would have stayed here without the card, as it is overprices for the amenities. No included breakfast, but you can pay $12 for something they microwave. Room was clean and comfortable, but no body lotion and just a small soap to wash your hands. For $200 a night, it should have been better. Never again.

A nice option for a college town. Walkable to restaurants, bars and campus. Rooms and commons areas are clean and updated. Lauryn at the front desk was incredible and friendly, she took care of our group and went the extra mile to make sure we had a great room. Thank you Lauryn!

We recently booked a stay at the Courtyard Marriott at CMU, specifically requesting an early check-in so our family could prepare for an afternoon banquet. We even called ahead to confirm a noon check-in, and the hotel assured us this would be fine. Despite our arrival at 1 p.m., allowing the hotel an additional hour due to traffic, we were told at the front desk that no rooms were available because they hadn’t been cleaned yet. When we explained that we’d called ahead to confirm the early check-in, the staff member not only offered no helpful solution but almost seemed to enjoy the fact that he couldn’t help in any manner. He came across as extremely rude and snotty, ultimately suggesting we “walk around Target for a few hours” until the room was ready. This response felt dismissive and unprofessional, especially given our prior arrangement. We decided to leave and went down the road to the Holiday Inn Express, where I was extremely impressed by the staff. Although they also didn’t have rooms available right away, the staff member on duty called the maid service and asked if they could quickly prepare a room for us. This wasn’t their problem to solve, but they went above and beyond to take care of us, and I truly thank them for their effort and exceptional service. Overall, this experience with Courtyard Marriott was disappointing and disrupted our plans. We hope the hotel takes steps to improve communication and train staff to be more supportive when guests have confirmed early check-in requests.

Extra large room on 6th floor. Enjoyed the bar one night. Watch your stock of uncolas. Pool was large with good towels, hot tub and restrooms. 3-5 feet deep. Long enough to do laps, but water was cold. Starbucks inside, so breakfast on your own.
