Our appreciation for waterfront activities makes the "awesome waterfront" on Diamond Lake a significant draw. We love to get out on the water, and the suitability for kayaks and canoes makes it incredibly easy to enjoy paddling, fishing, or simply relaxing by the shore. For families, the unique addition of a "treehouse and gaga ball pit" is a standout feature, ensuring that children have engaging activities that go beyond traditional campfire stories, making it a place they'll want to return to again and again. This emphasis on family-friendly amenities creates an inviting atmosphere for local families seeking memorable vacations close to home.
Furthermore, the promise of a "quiet place to camp not too far from town" addresses a common desire among Washington campers: the ability to escape into nature without feeling completely isolated. The balance of peaceful surroundings and easy access to Newport for supplies or a meal makes planning a trip far less daunting. The "pet friendly and people friendly" environment also aligns with our inclusive outdoor culture, allowing us to bring our furry companions along for the adventure. Finally, the consistently praised helpfulness of staff, like Ranger Leo, ensures a smooth and pleasant experience, fostering a sense of trust and reliability that encourages repeat visits. For all these reasons, Cowles Scout Reservation stands out as a top-tier choice for Washington locals looking for that perfect blend of relaxation, recreation, and genuine connection with the great outdoors.

We love it here and make a point to camp here at least once a summer. This is my 3rd weekend camping here this month. I have tent camped and trailer camped and enjoyed both. The waterfront is awesome. It is a good place to bring kayaks and our canoe. The kids love the treehouse and gaga ball pit. This is a quiet place to camp not too far from town. It is pet friendly and people friendly too. Ranger Leo is helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend Camp Cowles if you are looking for a restful camping trip. Reservations are required.
Very nice camp. Much larger than you might think at first.
Highly recommended for scouting or special events. Its available to reserve.
They have recently logged the place and it doesn't even resemble the camp I've known all my life. First they tear down a camp land mark ( Finch Lodge) the first building built on camp for the boys. Thirty years ago my father became camp ranger there. I grew up in those woods and that lodge, now it's all a memory. Very sad to see such beautiful forest and camp history demolished and it's a shame the kids coming up for camp won't ever know what used to be the camp we all grew to love.
This is a Cub Scout camp that you can rent part or all of. This camp is located on Diamond lake. There are wonderful hidden views, and places of relaxation.
