Customer Reviews
Been to this campground a handful of times. New owners are fine. A little odd, but more pleasant than the jerk who used to own the place. Clean sites. We stayed close to the river. Other campers were respectful. The dogs had a great time as well. Not much to complain about when you’re camping in the Whites. Wood is expensive ($10 a bundle) but drier than the wood we purchased off site.
High quality campground! Incredible location, quiet and respectful ambiance, and well-maintained tent sites. I’ve been here 4-5 times over the past decade, staying at different sites each time - and each visit has been an entirely positive experience! As a tent-camper, there’s nothing worse than the noise from a generator or busy traffic waking you up and disturbing the vibe - that has never happened to me here. The tent sites are private with lots of foliage and the campground is pretty large and spread out. I’d recommend snagging a river side site if you can! There’s a few with views of the surrounding notch and mountains which are pretty spectacular, but they fill up way in advance. Another word to the wise: if you plan on arriving late (past 10pm) be sure to notify the staff so they can leave a key card for the gate, otherwise you will be hiking all your stuff to your site and parking at the gate! Very affordable for what it offers, and almost always sites available even during busy peak holiday weekends, which is much appreciated considering public campgrounds tend to book up so quickly. Highly recommend!
End of September so campground was not busy at all. Great location in beautiful National Forest. Beautiful colours. The young staff who greeted us was nice and polite. Our RV site (electricity and water) was clean and beautiful, however, like all the RV sites, right along the very noisy highway (it did quiet down after 8pm and until 6am). Washrooms were very clean, however I felt a bit unsafe in the park as there did not seem to be any kind of security staff.
!!Don't camp here!! They have a curfew? & if you miss that curfew, they expect you to sleep in your car on a deserted highway, bc they won't open the gates past 10, & you're not allowed to sleep in their parking lot. That is absolutely bizarre. They have 1 bathhouse that you have to pay for that's a hike from your site. Zero service for miles. The whole place is ran by annoyed teenagers, there's not an adult or manager in sight. It was like I asked for his arm when questioning how to get to our site. Not sure if adults even exist? Much better & cheaper sites around!!
Absolutely gorgeous location, awful management. Was told over the phone explicitly several times there was parking at our campsite, but upon arrival told there was not. It was carry in/carry out only, a distance of only about 150 yards for our site but some were quite a ways away from parking. Upon arrival at our site there was already another group set up there- the site had been DOUBLE BOOKED. If that group wasn't friendly and didn't have family in another site they could consolidate to, we would have been completely screwed out of our weekend. It's painfully obvious this place is under new ownership that doesn't care about the camp or people, only the money. I imagine it will be in total disrepair by next year. Other notes: most of the camp has porta-potties only, but there is a nice bathhouse near the entrance. Firewood at the general store is double the going rate so buy some roadside on the way up. Most of the riverfront sites are not actually riverfront in the Fall when the river is low, it's a short walk away. Potable water is only available on the North side of the campground so fill up on the way in. Black bears are very much around.
