Very nice hotel with an incredible view, comfortable beds and clean rooms. The service was good and the location is perfect. Not inside the town and noisy but up on the hill so it’s only a short walk to the store fronts. Usually has good parking but holy cow, the food is absolutely awful. We ate breakfast there last year and it was so bad… but then we came back last month for dinner and it was literally the worst meals any of us have had in recent memory. All four of us got something different and all four of us were amazed at how bad it was. The service was attentive and friendly though!
We've stayed here twice, both times for a good amount of time. However, we had a very frustrating and super unpleasant experience in terms of the service. Never booking this hotel again. They don't have a luggage room/service where you can leave your bags for a few hours after checkout, regardless that there are a plenty of rooms behind the front desk. I've never seen any hotel—even if it's a bad one—that doesn't offer the service, and it's presumptuous that they assume all of their clients have a car to leave their bags... We had a very important and time-sensitive event in town after the checkout time so we've planned to leave the bags at the front desk for less than an hour. When we asked them, they looked at us just like we're aliens and said we should leave them our car. Since we were traveling without a car, we asked if there's any other way explaining that we have an important event. Both the manager and front desk staff member gave us a dirty look and were being the most unhelpful people. When we asked if we can pay some more to leave them in the room for a little while, and they said we'll have to pay for the full night's fee. When we asked how much that is, they refused to give the price so had to ask three times... I felt like they don't want us to be there. Are they being racists? We both felt personally insulted and upset, which ruined our trip to Lake Placid. We paid a lot of money for the hotel and have been a very considerate customer. Before this incident, we had planned to come back to the hotel again and be a regular customer otherwise because of the convenience of the location for our purpose. Not going back there again.
This is one of the most amazing Lodge hotels we've been to. It is on top of the hill overlooking mirror Lake in Lake Placid and part of the main Street downtown. The service is amazing and the various nooks where you can sit and enjoy a book or look on your phone are great. We are also here the week before Christmas and the lights and ambiance are unbelievable. Definitely worth a visit around Christmas time.
I recently stayed at this hotel for the fourth time with my family and unfortunately, my experience was ruined by the constant noise from a group of young people playing hockey in their room. The noise was incredibly disruptive, especially at night, and it made it impossible to rest or enjoy my stay. It was clear that there was no parental supervision, and it was confirmed by the staff when they went, and this lack of control affected the overall atmosphere. I understand that families travel together, but I would expect better management of such situations to ensure all guests can have a peaceful and comfortable stay. We had to call multiple times 2 nights in a row for the staff to be serious about it and take action. Very disappointed, especially from the genral manger, Ray, the morning we checked out that clearly didn't mind about us and gave us a ridiculous credit on our bill. We will not be returning to this hotel as it felt more like someone basement than an hotel.
My husband and I came to lake placid for our anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the crowne plaza. The hotel is clean. The pool and other community areas are beautiful. Our room was also clean and comfortable. We will definitely return the next time we are in town.
