As Nebraskans, we know the true value of a quiet, accessible escape. The **Crystal Lake Campground**, nestled within the Crystal Lake State Recreation Area (SRA) near Ayr, offers just that. It provides a foundational camping experience—a peaceful base from which to enjoy the natural beauty of Central Nebraska.
The campground is situated on a small, 5-acre lake and also offers access to the Little Blue River, making it an ideal destination for anglers and non-motorized boat enthusiasts. As one reviewer noted, it’s a “Nice little camp ground,” and there's local buzz that improvements are planned, suggesting a bright future for this recreational gem.

As a customer highlighted, while they "do have new toilets installed around," the campground currently operates without modern comforts like showers or a dedicated dump station on-site. It’s the perfect choice for those who appreciate peace and quiet over luxury resort amenities, offering a cost-effective and convenient camping solution.

Nice little camp ground. They are going to be doing some work on the lake should make it even better.
This would be a great campground if it had more modern amenities. They do have new toilets installed around but there are no showers. A dump Station would also be great. I don't know if they offer discounts, but the nightly price is high for only toilets and electric IMO.
Had our family meet here to spend weekend celebrating Birthday. Everyone had a Great Time, very Nice place to camp and Enjoy yourselves.
This 4th of July weekend was our very first trip down to Ayr. It is a great place to camp. We will definitely be going back and enjoying the our side. It is very peaceful and quiet. Lots of shade trees. During the night you can hear the crickets and the other nature sounds. Great place to go with great history story's about it.
It is very quiet and very relaxing place
