My family and I loved this campground for the weekend of the 4th. Very quiet with a beach and access to the river. Sites are large and grassy you can either back in or pull parallel.
Tom is a great host. This is our all time favorite camp ground. We travel 4.5 hours just to spend time here. We enjoy the 50 miles of asphalt bike trails. Tom has catered to our canoeing trips which makes things very convenient with his rental service.
Something happened with both of our vehicles GPSes, so we missed the campground by 30 miles, but we found it eventually. Large sites. Very quiet. An outdoor stage was there - I guess they have concerts, but our kids were happy to perform and sing. We just stayed overnight on our way across the country. Seemed pretty good.
This place is amazing we stayed on site 25, beautiful view of the bluffs. Nice being able to ride bicycle on the state trail, tube, kayak, the root river right from the campground. Then we took off on the motorcycle to see more of the bluffs.
Arriving Friday they handed us a crappy hand written map and told us are site number. Got to our site and grass was super high. Our site electrical and water was inside someone elses site. Had 2 port-a-potties around to us one had 2 wasp nest in it with no hand sanitizer and other one was in the weeds with spiders and was full. No garbage cans anywhere The main bathroom and shower was a mess with mud, bugs peoples garbage etc.. Leaving Monday had to dump the tanks and there slop is off so it pushed the the dump slush to the back not the exit. Raised it up with 3 pieces of wood still not enough to empty the tanks. Then have to check out and no one was working to do that, so we call the number on door. I we didn't have a group of people we would of just left. They need to focus a little on maintaining and clean there grounds and facilities.
