Great campground, not a lot of boaters come here due to the no wake rules. Good for kayaking and swimming, tent or RV/camper camping. Beautiful trails, good fishing in both summer and winter. Public restroom. Plenty of wildlife to enjoy as well bald and golden eagles, blue herons and as always deer. Good family quiet spot. Road getting there tends to be kinda rough tho.
Stopped here on the way back to our home-state on a 3-week overlanding trip. LOVED: quiet visitors, dog-friendliness, great fishing, wildlife, clean bathrooms that were checked daily, enough spots for us to know we'd probably always get a nice spot, but not enough that the campground is overrun with visitors. Didn't Love: racist park maintenance who checked in on us daily longer than everyone else, and told us that he "loves when your kind come out here" (we're Asian). He also was surprised that my name was "Rebecca", as "that doesn't sound Asian". He was nice if you ignored his racist comments, and we can pass it off as pure ignorance for his generation (in his 60s), but really not great to have him as the face of the park/campground.
Far enough away that you don't hear the sounds of civilization, yet not so far that you would get lost. If you like to get off the grid and just enjoy nature then this is the spot. Beautiful scenery and the drive up to it is well worth it.
This campground has a few unique spots for tent camping. The spots have firepits. You will need to get crafty when setting up a tent as the campsites are on a sidehill. My suggestion is set your tent up so water runs away from your door. I've experienced heavy rains here and a flooded tent could happen.
Nice little waterfront campsite. End or Start (depending which way you go) on the 23 mile long Deerfield Trail. There are about 5 spots where an RV could park and a pit toliet. There are about five spots up on a hill for tents. There is a fishing pier and access for boats to put in, but Deerfield Lake is a no wake lake, so it is really peaceful. The dirt roads are well maintained to the area and the Prarie has pronghorns! Water is up on the hill above the pit toliets and RV spots, it is a little hidden.
