Cypress Head Campground Introduce

Cypress Head Campground is a stunning destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking a peaceful yet convenient camping experience in Washington's natural beauty. Located on 5000 Potlatch Ln, Anacortes, WA 98221, this campground offers a unique blend of nature and accessibility. Operated by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, Cypress Head Campground provides a range of amenities and services designed to cater to both RVs and tent campers.

The campground features gravel beaches that make it easy for visitors to land small watercraft such as kayaks, canoes, or dinghies. The site is particularly popular among sailors, offering free moorings and protected areas for boating enthusiasts. With two composting toilets and picnic tables at each campsite, Cypress Head ensures all basic needs are met while maintaining a commitment to environmental sustainability.

Campers will appreciate the diverse camping options available. While some sites on the isthmus may feel slightly crowded due to natural log formations, the bluff-top sites provide ample space for two medium tents and stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Each site includes a fire ring, perfect for roasting marshmallows under the stars.

Visitors have praised Cypress Head Campground for its beauty and convenience. Many highlight the ease of access for small boats and the welcoming atmosphere of the facility. One camper noted: "As a sailor, protection here is very dependent on whether the winds are going to be consistent. We had a comfortable night in 15kts exposed because of the isthmus. Happy to have free moorings." Another added, "Cypress Head Campground is a beautiful place operated by Washington State Department of Natural Resources."

Cypress Head Campground is more than just a place to camp—it’s an experience that connects you with nature and offers endless opportunities for adventure. Whether you're sailing, hiking, or simply enjoying the great outdoors, Cypress Head Campground provides a welcoming home base for your outdoor escapades.

Cypress Head Campground is a beautiful place operated by Washington State Department of Natural Resources. Gravel beaches make for easy landing for hand carried sailing kayaks/canoe/or dinghy on both the north and the south sides of the isthmus. While the camping areas on the isthmus are a bit crowded with logs, sites up on the bluff each have space for 2 medium tents. There are two composting toilets, and each site has a picnic table and fire ring.

Absolutely stunning camp sites on 4 and 5. Great trails and decent restrooms.

Only three mooring buoys, exposed to tidal and wind conditions but totally worth it if you can time it right. Fire pits, gravel tent pads and picknick benchs everywhere, great place for a large-group party. Trailhead to a fairly challenging, but widely untraveled hike. A couple decaying landmark surprises in the forest(there was a troubled youth camp there). Liberty bay is connected if you need more docking options, but you'll have to hike over.

Beautiful scenery! Windy on the spit. Two nice outhouses. Any campsite is good! Overflow camping on the spit.
